DAR: Oh I know, way too many to mention!! But I actually was looking for the personal impact on your own life...even a little story, someone in passing that touched your heart...along those lines.

My sons diabetic doctor is an immigrant and I would have no other doctor for him. She's one of the kindest people I know and anytime I have a minor concern or question, she's made it clear to call anytime. She doesn't get angry at those occassional 2 in the morning calls when i'm panicking lol.
She's helped me tremendously in realizing that my son can be like any other kid and little bumps in the road are okay and will turn out fine. Some days, I really don't know what I would have done without her.

My grandparents all immigrated here from Hungary, Poland and Germany in the early 1900's. They came in legally and made a life for themselves and my parents. Today I have the freedoms that I have because of what they did, so I guess that is how legal immigrants have had a positive impact on my life.

Well I am an immigrant but without my parents sacrifice of coming to the USA. I dont know whre I would be today. I was a young kid when I came to the USA but now going back to my country I am glad that I was brought here. I had such a good life and I enjoyed my existance. I think the best thing that happened to me by an immigrant is being brought to the USA!!

There are some wonderful immigrants like my grandfather who came here at the age of 15 with only a few dollars in his pocket. he had to work or starve and there was no assistance for ANYTHING in those days. If he got sick, too bad. He taught himself English. He worked hard and made a life for himself and his family while NEVER taking anything from the government.

That is not the case today - even many of the finest legal immigrants receive assistance from our government. The immigration offices are subsidized with tax dollars. They can get free or low interest loans that I can't get. They can get free medical. Etc, Etc.

I like the old system.

The legal immigrants have had a huge impact. They are the reason America is what it is today. None of us would be here (unless you are of native american descent) if not for the immigrants.

The illegals have had only a negative effect on wages and the amount of taxes dollars not spent on US citizens.

Can't think of any. I go order food, I get "que" ? (at least 3 times). I ask where certain items are in the retail store and I get "que"? I ask for directions and I get "que"? Taxes, auto, home & health insurance costs have skyrocketed! At least the fruit & vegatables are cheap. I have to take more time and effort to accomplish the same task that was no problem before we starting bending over (forward not backwards) for illegals. I have to select my countrys language to use an ATM or a telephone in my own country all of which costs me more! The cost of living is cheaper? My life has been eased? The only thing I loathe are illegals! Someone has been hitting the crack pipe way too hard!

el presidente has spoken!

My boyfriend is an immigrant from the UK. He came over when he was 5 and became a naturalized citizen at 18 (to join the Air Force). He has had a positive impact on my life...

My best friend, that I met while in college, is from Kenya by way of England.

Her and her family are some of the nicest people that I have EVER met. They are all U.S. citizens now.

I feel very blessed to have met them.

They have enriched my life and touched my heart numerous times throughout the years, and they continue to do so!

I knew a woman from Romania that taught me how to be a kinder and more loving person. She was so humble and sweet. She always made everyone smile when she was around. She adopted abused children and gave her whole life and self caring for them.
