Ah! You're a civilian, I can tell.
No one has been forced to join the military since the time of the draft. After it was removed, all military branches have been selective service.
No one has been forced to serve in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bosnia etc. It's their choice to work and fight for their country, and in my opinion, it is the highest form of honor anyone can receive.
Edit-From the very start on enlistment, every man and woman knows what they're getting themselves into.

Nobody has been forced into the military. You can get called back in to serve after you got out. Sadly some people sign up b/c they want to wear the uniform, but they do not want the job that comes along with it.
As far as #, the percentage is less than 4%. Our beautiful country and all of its options for you. Did you know 31 countries require mandatory military service after high school for 6 mos to a few years? Some countries call you back throughout your lifetime. In Finland over 80% of the male population serve in the military.

Nobody is forced to join the military. Once in, you are forced to go to Iraq. If you join the Army or Marines and join not thinking you will go to Iraq or Afganistan, you are an idiot. Your rotation WILL come sooner or later.

None that I know of. I don't think that anybody that's in the military now, has been drafted. It looks like my son is going to have to go. He's in the Arkansas Army National Guard and his unit has been put on alert and if he has to go, he's going willingly. My family has had over 35 members that have served in the military since WW11, including me and we are very proud of that fact. I was in the Marines from 7/67 to 11/70. Semper Fi

THEY WERE NOT FORCED. THEY SIGNED A CONTRACT FROM THE US MILITARY SAYING THAT THE GOVERNMENT OWNS THEM AND THEY WILL OBEY ORDERS. SO IF THEY ARE TOLD TO GO, THEY HAVE TO GO, BECAUSE THEY SIGNED THAT CONTRACT SAYING THAT THEY WILL GO IF THEY ARE ASKED TO GO.
THEY ARE NOT FORCED, I REPEAT, THEY ARE NOT FORCED. IF THEY ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT BEING FORCED, THEY SHOULDN'T OF JOINED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
IF THEY'RE SCARED OF BEING SO CALLED "FORCED" TO GO, THEN THEY SHOULDN'T OF JOINED IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND IF PEOPLE ARE SCARED TO GO TO WAR, THEY SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE FIRST TO WAR AND THE LAST TO LEAVE, SO THEY'LL BE THE FIRST TO DIE AND IF NOT, THE LAST TO DIE.
