make a point. I like this variety, but a few people are offended that we should laugh in God's house. I don't get it. Why not have fun in our worship. Do you thinnk it is disrespectful to laugh in church?

No. We are joyous people.

I guess maybe some of the people in your church are older and remember how church use to be. I had to adjust to chorus singing. I remember singing the whole verses of songs in the hymn books (which are rarely used these days and are just collecting dust). As long as its done with the proper respect and makes a spiritual point, I don't see a problem with it.

It depends.

What are you going to Church for?

A song and dance with a point attached? The singing and the skits? In short the entertainment.....

I have nothing against laughing and having the Preacher or Priest make a quick witted joke to help keep your attention, but in the end are we not at Church to worship God? As long as the focus is on him rather than out entertainment, "Gee, Cindy really sang well and that skit that the Robinsons put on was a hoot"!

But I think God has a sense of humor, after all, he created us!

But there is a time and a place,,,,,

Peace be with you!

The bible says, "Make a JOYFUL noise".
I think that there are some people who really want to keep the life out of the church because then they can have more control over it.
Now that's not to say that there is a time for some seriousness. But, a mature Christian will know when what is proper.

Yeah, I remember in the bible where Christ was teaching His apostles and they put on a little skit, they were so entertaining, and His gospel didn't bring anyone to the point of knowing their need for Him They laughed and laughed.

OK, that was sarcasm, but it was necessary.

Considering that my last two pastor's always led off with a joke (mostly lame) I would certainly say not. Throughout the bible there is joy, laughter, and dancing. Unfortunately, some people seem to think that being holy equals being somber. How sad for them.

Pfft. Nope. Laughter is healthy. I go to church occasionally, and I laugh the whole time.

Sounds ok to me....People were outraged 100 years ago when they brought piano's into churchs. Piano's were used in bars and prostitute houses only...that is what they said.

the oldsters do tend to dislike the contemporary worship songs and laughter in the psalms says it is good for you...as long as it is biblical and draws people to church it is all good..the problem comes when people interpret and lay down the rules for church

Of course not! Don't people think God wants us to be happy? What's wrong with those people? We are the only species that has a sense of humor--or needs one.

Even Jesus had a sense of humor (though most of the jokes didn't make it through the translation).

I like to go to church to laugh at everyone there. I think it's fine.
