Let's start with the crisis:
0.7C temperature increase in the last 150+ years following the end of the Little Ice Age.
The "crisis" is not the temperature increase, but the rate at which it is happening. Some climatologists say that natural global changes do not happen this fast, but the truth of the matter is that the past changes cannot be directly measured and are instead produced through computer modeling.
So, what exactly are the negative effects? It's already apparent that the current temperature increase is not harmful. The IPCC has projected a rise in sea level of 8 inches to just under a foot and a half over the next 100 years - that's a slower rise than in any century since the last ice age. (This projection has upset some of the global warming crowd who think it should be higher, disagreeing with the so called "consensus" view.) Other predictions of extreme weather phenomena have failed to materialize - notably the lack of intense hurricane activity.
Meanwhile we DEFINITELY have global problems that are not currently being solved: hunger, disease, environmental damages...how much less attention do we spend on these unsolved problems? How many resources do we divert away from them to come up with an unknown solution to a problem that may not exist to the extent some claim.
As you can see, I don't believe that man is significantly affecting climate, but that doesn't stop me from doing my part to help the environment.
Things you can do to help the environment are, not so coincidentally, also the same kinds of things that will allegedly slow down global warming:
Conserve energy - changing driving habits, car-pooling, efficient cars, energy-saving home appliances, reassessing your heating and cooling needs, and many more...
Reducing consumption - reassess your true needs - the less you consume, the less energy expended by factories, farms, and transportation; the more resources available to others who may not be fortunate to have plentiful resources; grow your own produce, buy locally, buy in season; buy used, recycle, sell, or give away items you no longer have a need for; again, many more...
Keep in mind that some people will do more than you, some quite a bit less or not at all. Don't let that distract you from doing the best you can. When you can, volunteer your time or resources towards the environment. Many neighborhoods organize in an effort to make your portion of the community as clean and green as possible.
You don't have to wear the environmental equivalent of a "hair shirt" or take some vow of poverty. Maintain the priorities in life that make you feel purposeful, just try to include a concern for the planet we all share.

I think that Global Warming is a very seruise issue and needs to be taken into hand.On earth day,it should be made law to not drive in any car exsept High Brids,and/or bikes. Besides,we all could use a little exersize. Turn off all your lights in the house if your not useing them.Unless there floresent.Turn off your air condetioner and open the windows.Shut down all plants for the day,and I think that would make a BIG improvement. They say that the major global warming affects will be taken in 30 years,I'll still be alive.I think thats more then enough time to end Gobal Warming. Ice Galsures are already starting to melt.Rivers are overflowing, theres a few signs. It's getting hotter, beacause Presedent Bush is standing around playing Golf and being busy with Iraq.Iraq can wait - the world is at stake here.I think Bush should be taking care of it,God only knows why he is even still Presedent. Know as you can see,I'm not a big Bush fan.So no flaming me please.I'm helping the cause by turing off my lights when I'm not useing them, and walking everwhere.Scientese say that they are coming up with a way of Global Cooling. Which is wonderful but - Dont you get scared? What if somthing goes rong with it and the O-ZON layer is gone, where dead.Thats the end of the human race as we know it.So - I think it's just better if we just chill out,and turing off everything.
: )

First of all let me say that global warming IS happening.
What the causes are is still being debated.
It is however my opinion that at least a fairly good percentage is caused by the technical revolution as in factories spewing pollutants, automobiles, ships and the insane harvesting of the rainforests, as well as total mismanagement of resources.
Have you looked in the grocery store and super markets at
the bottled water isle?
Thre are literally hundreds of different labels some are being shipped even across oceans.
Now think about the cost and materials used in
manufacturing of the containers, shipping costs and all that has to be done to fill an entire isle with bottled water.
How come water in some cases costs more than gasoline. WHY...???
And now it turns out you are in fact buying bottled tap water.
The answer to this problem is....
Stop buying bottled water.....AND spend a few bucks and get a good water filter for your home or apartment.
This will also solve a small part of the problems caused to the environment that is created by disposing of all that plastic that has been polluting the worlds oceans and is killing thousands of sea animals and fish.
I wish I had an idea of how to stop these problems.
By that I mean, that almost always that it is left to be dealt with by politicians........NOT A GOOD ANSWER.
There are such organizations like Green Peace but all they can do is mostly monitor and watch.
As far as I can see the only answer I can find is....
To to keep on speaking out and making certain that as many
people as possible get educated about the problems and hope that all of these problems will be addressed.
So whether the problem is a natural cycle of our good old Earth or not I know that at least part was caused by humanity.
A WORLD BODY of environmental protection....?
A nice idea but not likely.
That would have to be a body that has law enforcement capabilities.
As long as humanity still settles problems by WAR destroying
entire cities and making miles of farm land un inhabitable
I think we will have to wait a long time for any good answers.

Global warming is in my opinion possibly the most serious threat towards future human civilizations. Since greenhouse gases stays for hundreds of years in the atmosphere we cannot yet overview all the consequences or where this will end. The longer we walk in the wrong direction, the longer it will take to get back to find the right road for the future.
We are currently consuming the earth in a speed that would require us to have 3 planets like earth if we intend to continue like we do today, regardless if global warming will be a serious problem or not. Some people says that global warming has happened before so we don't have to worry about it. But we weren't 6.5 billion people around by then. Now, if we decrease the earth's resources making big areas inhabitable and useless for farming there is no way we can continue to provide people with the food and water they'll need.
Though a big threat, I also hope that global warming can be the wake up call that humanity needs. At least it was for me. I wasn't particularly concerned about our environment until I realized the full potential of this threat. I truly believe that we can learn from every thing happening in our lives, thus turning something bad into something good. This is what I hope will come out from this global warming crisis.
If people just looked at things with a longer perspective than they are today they would see how unreasonable our way of consuming without taking care of this planets resources is. This may be hard for people without children but one do get a longer perspective as a mother/father. Unfortunately I don't think we can rely on people ability on this alone, because there will always be people who only cares for their own short term interests and hence it is absolutely essential with strong, determined governments in our world that acts from a long term perspective and have the skill to let the people see the necessity of these polities.

Heres my answer and I think it is the best. IF Global warming is true, then Mankind and the Earth is headed for assured catastrophe, there really isnt much we can do about it at this stage. Many, Many people will die, and many animal species will die. I fear the earth will dry up into a desert planet, maybe over time, thousands of years, the earth will recover. Since it is naturally a lush planet. Now this is assuming Global Warming is a fact. It may just be a scare and five years from now, temperatures will be stting record lows. But if in five years its 115 degrees in Washington DC, hold onto your britches my friend and buy a gun because some serious **** is gonna go down. Hell, Im thinking of starting to buy an arsenal right now, and were at least ten years away from deadly temperatures, Have a nice day :)

Global warming may be occurring, it may not.
One of the problems is that we have only had the technology to be able to see the data/effects for a short time.
Many people not having any idea about the historical data over-react to the information detected.
The Luddite's amongst us AND those with vested interests, need to back off and let the 'experts' work it out, once and for all.
Using accurate current data and historical data, from ice cores, and geological testing, etc. an accurate model of what is happening can be made and we can then determine what is happening and what to do about it.
Until then, we just have to cool our heels and wait.

I think that before you can convince everyone that global warming is a problem, you're simply going to have to wait for everyone over fifty to die. Many people over fifty remember that forty years ago, scientists were using the exact same methodology that global warming proponents use now, but back then they were predicting another ice age.
We find it odd that CO2 is being blamed. CO2 is less than 4% of the atmospheric greenhouse gases, and moreover is crucial to the survival of plant life. Since most of greenhouse gas is water vapor, we don't understand why they aren't trying to build giant dehumidifiers.
Basically, the global warming scare is just bullshit.
So is the assertion that there is anything approaching universal agreement among scientists. There are many scientists who don't believe it, although not as many as there are celebrities who do believe.
Global Warming is junk science. It would be a bad idea to base political policy on nonsense.

First, I think we are in a natural cycle, and all this US driven news is crap. I had a niece visit China on a goodwill tour, and while they traveled from town to town, she says there are manufacturing mills, wall to wall for miles, like fifty miles in a stretch. And they are spewing out the toxic fumes we hear about, and no one seems to care about publishing this information, nor does China care about anything, or anybody. (Please note all the recent recalls of Chinese products that are obviously bad for us, but have been on our markets for years--again NO PRESS).
Secondly, I have heard, and think it true, that our earth is in a wobble, or at least the tilt has changed, and this can cause some of the weird weather, too, if it is true.
In order for us to comprehend the problem, our government has to stop treating us as stupid children. The information often lies or bent out of shape is for certain political/economic gains. We as individuals need leadership. The "grass-roots" ain't working. The world has to get on board, too. Why is it just the USA? and or a few other first-world countries?
What are the true effects? Who knows, tells us, real people, please tell us the truth......

rather climate exchange. it quite is known that climate exchange reasons an prolonged term consequence and could impact the completed international some distance extra beneficial than the financial disaster. in spite of the very shown fact that that's going to take a million% of the international companion and teenagers product (GDP) to mitigate climate exchange, we ought to do it quickly beforehand the impacts of climate exchange take its toil on the international and by the time it hits us, it quite is envisioned that it will take approximately 5% of GDP to sparkling up the matters in destiny. impacts that are extra extreme would desire to reason us 7% to ten% of GDP. Do you notice why it quite is extra substantial to provide up climate exchange NOW beforehand it quite is merely too previous due and we lose extra funds? The financial disaster would be over in a year or 2 yet climate exchange will kill us all.

The earth is warming, maybe. Temperature data is not available for hundreds of years so how do we know? The earth goes through changes the same a s seasons, warmer, cooler. This alarmist crap is just a way to get the newest batch of grant money. 5 years from now it will be something new, when the grant money dries up.
