America is historically an anti-Catholic society. Remember: Protestant Englishmen founded the colonies, and did so not long after Henry VIII murdered the faithful Catholic Bishops and Priests in his realm and outlawed celebration of the Mass. This attitude has been ingrained in the American culture since its beggining.

the catholic church isn't a cult. that's the unique historical Christian church. all the different church homes broke from the catholic church in the 1600's. if the catholic church is a cult, then so is all of Christianity.

You are correct in denying the cult association. Your church is a very profitable tax-free business instead, as are many others.
If you step away from it for a while, you will see the truth.
Bring your awesome powers of thought to bear on the current situation all over the world.
Your religion and all others is designed to control and confuse you only. That stuff does not come from God, it comes from ego manicas.
You apparently are aware of the conflict within. Keep researching.
Read or reread Conversations with God by Neale Walsch as a starting point.
Remember that you are God and you don't need saving from anything except the nonsense that is going around everywhere all-day everyday.
Good luck

By definition from religious views, cults are small
religious groups that aren't main-stream denominations. The word cult does mean a following, which follow something or someone.
I'm Baptist,and we have been called a cult.We
also believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
There are different doctrinal issues among the
denominations.Even on church history.
True Baptist(yes, there are phony baptist churches)name on the building only. The devil
is doing his job well.

The Catholic Church is the founding church of the religion of Christianity.
So if other Christian sects (Protestants) want to point fingers and call "cult" at the Catholics, they need to look in the mirror.
You all come from the same place, you all have the same basic beliefs in the old pagan religion myths of gods and virgins giving birth to god-men, human virgin sacrifice for the sins of the people, that human sacrifice descending to the underworld for 3 days and then resurrecting to renew life for the world, then the eating of his body and drinking of his blood to remember him by, and then worshipping him. You all believe in an eternal hellfire, and original sin, as well.
None of this comes from Judaism, even though Christians are incorrectly taught by their various churches that it does. It doesn't. Never has. It all comes from other ancient pagan religions.
That puts you ALL in the same ancient pagan religious boat, so stop pointing fingers , those who do are "the pot calling the kettle black".

I don't think I'm wrong to say that a cult can be described as an organization that takes control of EVERY aspect of an individual's life.
I know for a fact that the catholic church does NOT pracitce this.
The catholic church allows it's followers to live where they choose, talk to who they want to, where what they want, (more or less) ect...

People who say that the Catholic Church is a cult accuse them of "wafer worship", "Mary worship", the worship of dead people, of forbidding marriage, and of ignoring the clear teachings of the bible. All of these are misrepresentations of the Catholic faith.
Next time they accuse Catholics of not being real Christians, try to answer some of their questions. Here a couple of good apologetic web sites:

No, Catholics are not a cult. I am not Catholic either. I have posted a few times that people use that word too freely without knowing what a real cult is. Even Webster's dictionary doesn't have it right.

Yes you believe in Jesus....
BUT the act of granting Deity to status to Mary, Joesph, and a cast of thousands for prayers, penance, visions, saintly activities is against the Bible...
The church granting it self the authority to change the times and laws of God and proclaiming that Sunday is the official day of worship in place of the Sabbath.....re writing the Ten Commandments....church can not change God's laws...
There is a verse in the Bible of the 7 virgins that want to wear their own garments and eat their own bread but still want to be called by his name.....
and on the day of judgment he said to those 7 virgins I do not know you because you followed another ...
don't recall it exactly but is pretty close...
even with a counterfeit bill , just because the ink looks good, it is still not real....
