my mother's cat is about 23/24; my family's cat is 19...it is normal for a cat to live well into their twenties. With the help of regular vet check-ups, vaccinations, good diet, and exercise (lots of toys) a cat can live to be twenty and only have minor health issues (my mother's cat has mild arthritis and besides that is very healthy...the other cat has hairballs and is still very playful).
here's a link on basic cat care,
http://www.petco.com/caresheets/cat/Cat.pdf
at this link they tell you simple ways of caring for your cat's health and red-flags to look for...they also describe the diet and exercise needed to keep your cat acting and feeling young: note, under age they say 13+ years...that's because your cat can die young if you don't give them the proper care from day one, however, if you give them the attention they need throughout their lives then there's no telling how long your cat will live or how great her health will be when she's older! Remember, obesity tends to tied to a large number of pre-mature deaths (heart problems, back problems) so watch your cat's weight (your vet can help you with this).

It differs for indoor and outdoor or both. I have a indoor cat that is 14 years old and still full of life. Indoor cats an live anywhere from 11-18+ years! Outdoor cats normally live 4-7 years. Indoor/outdoor cats 8-11+ It also depends on the diet and general health.

It varies on how you look after them. I had one cat that lived for 18 years and then got chased by a dog and had a heart attack. I think they can live up to 20 years. If the cat is taken to the vet every year and if there is a problem taken immediately then the cat will live a long and healthy life. Enjoy your kitten

That depends on the care give to the cat and if the cat has any problems. I had a cat that lived 14 years. I also had a little kitten who only lived 5 weeks. (He passed away on Aug. 3 :( ) So really it depends on how well you care for the cat, and it's overall health in general.

Depending on how well you take care of your cat. If you take it to the vet every year when she gets older she could live to 20, but if she only gets taken to the vet every 5 years she might only live to be 12. Also accidents can cause death at an early age and sickness might make her die sooner even if you do take her to the vet once a year. Right now my cat is 11 and really healthy, except for a heart murmur.

My last two lived to 20 and 17. They were purebreds, so don't think just because your cat is purebred or a mix that will affect its lifespan, as it is not always the case.
Indoor cats will almost always live longer than outdoor cats. It also depends on the food quality you give them and the amount of care they receive.
The average lifespan for a cat is 12 years, I believe.

The average lifespan of a cat s 13-14 years. But just like a person, the signs of "aging" show differently in each cat.
