If you are really interested in learning how to deal with this (as opposed to a one paragraph of general advice) two possible resources are meetings of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) or the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA). They have support and education groups for close friends and family members of people with mental illness. No one can help you as much as someone who's gone through what you're going through. Both of those organizations have meetings nationwide. Here's some links: http://www.nami.org/ and http://www.dbsalliance.org/site/PageServer?pagename=home
