I believe it had a red head, white body and dark grey bottom. I'm in Georgia.

I think you are right. It looks like a red-headed woodpecker. I will select the first responder as the best answer since I can only choose one. I would have never guessed a woodpecker. Wow, I got my answer almost instantly. Thanks!!!!

I believe it is a woodpecker. Was it pecking on a tree, or perched on the side of a tree when you saw it?
