Im not a child and we see them at my fathers house. And I am NOT the only one to see them or hear them either. One example

I was at my fathers house waiting on my nephew to get in from school. I heard the side door open and screen close then the door leading downstairs open and footsteps going down. I called his name he did not answer so I went down after him. He was not there, no one was there and I looked every where including closets and bathroom. I went back up to the living room thinking I was just hearing things and I heard footsteps coming back up stairs both the doors opening and the outside door closing. I looked outside and no one was there.

His upstairs main bathroom door will open and close many times a day no explination and when your sitting in the living room you can see a "shadow" walk past into the hall way.

Doesnt worry me much at all. I believe spirits are around us all. Infact when I was smaller I remember running down the stairs of our 3 story home to go outside and play tripping on my roller skates (many yrs ago the skates had metal wheels if that'll give away my age) something caught me and sat me down. Otherwise I would have fallen down 3 flights of stairs!

This has happened in 4 houses we have lived in. One in Alabama , 2 in Texas and my father currently lives in ND

Unless your daughter is frightened I say do nothing about it. If she is frightened you might want to ask her why.

Well, there are two possibilities:

1. She's going through a phase. I went through a similar phase, and it didn't last long. Sort of like the phase where I thought I was physic, the phase where I thought all closets could be a portal to magical worlds, and the phase where I thought I was a witch. All of these were induced by TV shows and books. Little kids have big imaginations. This one might start to scare her and chances are won't last long.

2. There could really be ghosts in the house. Keep a look out, and if you start to get freaked out, call someone. There are physics that claim to help.

Well, first wait and see if it subsides. Also, check and see if you experience anything strange yourself. If you notice anything really strange or if your daughter seems frightened, consider calling a priest who specializes in exorcisms.

EDIT: Don't read any books by Sylvia Browne or listen to whatever she says, because she is a fraud. She appears regularly on "The Montel Williams Show" and meets with the relatives of missing and murdered people. She claims that she doesn't charge a fee in such cases, but it's been shown that that's not true. If you want to know more, read this:

My son says the same thing. We just ask them if they are a girl or boy and ask if they want to play with his toys, etc. Then we say that they won't hurt them and to not be afraid.

We certainly don't get into the question of if there are or are not ghosts in the house. I don't want my child to think that I don't believe what they are telling me.

It all subsided within a few months.

My kids once claimed they saw ghost's looking at them. They came running in and told me to go look. I went and looked. It turned out that one of the kids had left the blinds up in their window about 4-5 inches and our dogs were looking in the window!! With the light from our neighbors porch, they did kind of have an erie look to them. I showed the kids what it was, and we all had a good laugh about it.

Since I dont believe in ghost's I explained to my kids that there were no such things. You can explain that sometimes things look "funny" because of the way the light hits it, or shadows on the wall.

How old is she?? My guess is that she shouldn't be watching movies or shows that are scary or have evil looking characters in them. Especially if she has a big imagination. People can imagine stuff and it can be SO REAL that it's terrifying. At the same time, I don't believe in ghosts, but I do know that there are spirits out there. (not spirits of people that are dead either) If you really think she's seeing something, you need to pray that God will rid your house of whatever presence is in it. That's kind of scary.
I lived with my sister in a rental house with her family for a while. At night ,everytime I walked into the kitchen I got totally creeped out. I walked in one particular time and saw a woman in white walking in the room. FREAKED me out. I didn't say anything because I thought it was just my wild imagination. A few days later my sister walked into the same room and SCREAMED. She said that she always was scared to go in the kitchen also by herself at night, but this time she saw THE SAME WOMAN. My 2 year old niece also asked one night( before my sister had that happen,) who the lady was in the kitchen. Can 3 people have the same hallucination...I doubt it.
If your daughter is just filling her mind with junk from movies and TV, it's probably freaking her out. If not, she may really be seeing something.

Does it scare her?

If so, sit down with her and color. Coloring has a very calming effect. While doing so, you might gently guide her into a discussion about the ghosts, or have her color a picture of what she sees.

Don't press too hard.

Also, check for signs of abuse. You can't be to careful with your daughter. It is a sick world.

ask her to draw pictures of them maybe. they wont harm you, dont worry. if she is scared by them, sit down with her and together ask them POLITELY to leave peacefully into the light. dont sound angry. little kids like animals can sometimes see ghosts. its just a thing.
