The pup should not be eating a high pro food. It should be fed a LArge Breed Adult food. Hi pro is going to cause fast growth and that can lead to orthopedic problems like hip dysplasia.

Yeah... All Purina products are garbage food.. There is not a single food that they produce that is quality .. You should do some research and find a good quality adult food.. Without corn wheat, fillers, and poison preservatives... Avoid the Iams/Eukanuba, All Purina products, Kibbles N Bits, Pedigree, Beneful, Science Diet, Ol Roy etc.. Nothing from the grocery store is good, no matter what people tell you..

Good quality food makes a huge difference in how your dog grows up.. how many problems he has in his lifetime.. It can even make a difference in how easily he is injured, or how quickly he would recover from an injury.. I have to assume when you get a dog that you want him to live a good 12-15 years of age.. In order to do that, you must feed quality dog food..

Answer Master : There is no such thing as a Miniature Doberman.. If you bought your dog based on that title.. You were ripped off.. Might be a Min Pin, Might be a Manchester Terrier, or even a German Pinscher.. But you do not own a Miniature Doberman..

It is okay to feed a puppy a food that has been found appropriate "for all life stages". When puppies are on a natural, raw food diet, they eat the same food as adults. Pedigree is not a good diet for any dog. Look at the ingredients list. It's full of fillers. Here's how I choose dog food and how to feed it. Feeding Commercial Dog Food Choose a high quality food by going to a pet supply or feed store and reading the labels. Remember “high five” or “give me five” as you read. The first five ingredients should be meats and vegetables and grains (unless your dog is itchy or chews himself, then go to a grain-free food). The very first ingredient is a meat. A second meat in the top five is very good. Not in the top five ingredients is any by-product, corn, wheat, or soy. A by-product is usually very low quality, such as chicken by-products are the feet, beak, and feathers. Not much nutrition there! Corn, wheat, and soy are cheap fillers and not easily metabolized by the dog. Use the package feeding guidelines to measure the daily amount of food for your dog’s weight. Divide that measured amount into separate meals. Puppies up to 10 or 12 weeks need four meals per day. Older puppies need three meals per day until they are adolescents and stop growing taller. Then the adult dogs can be fed in two meals per day for life. At each meal, put the measured amount of food in his dish and add a spoonful or two of warm water to enhance the aroma. Call the dog over and let him eat. In fifteen minutes or when he has cleaned the dish, whichever comes first, take up the dish. He gets no other treats or snacks until the next meal. Training treats can be pieces of his regular kibble. This should create a healthy, eager eater.

We have two Labs, ages 8 yrs, and 6 months. Feeding was a problem when we first got our pup at 10 weeks, since they needed two separate foods.
We discovered Canidae All Life Stages, good for any age dog. They both love it, and we couldn't be happier. It is a very high quality food.

Not at all. You should be feeding the lab puppy food for 12-15 months. Puppies require different amounts of certain nutrients than adult dogs; therefore, adult food is not going to provide your puppy with those nutrients.

It would be great if you could switch your dog to a higher quality food.
Purina is not a good food. Look at the ingredients in there. Corn is mostly indigestible to dogs, and has been shown to mess with their serotonin levels - additionally, "poultry by-product meal" is a big no-no. It's terrible what they put in their food - I wish more people knew about this.

Puppies should be fed puppy food until they are adult size. For a lab, which is a large breed, this means you should feed large breed puppy food till the dog is at least 9 months to a year old.

Then you shift to large breed adult food.

I think your dog would be fine, but NOT HIPRO! Adult food probably has more/less vitamins and minerals than puppy food. IE, puppy food has vitamins to help it become a healthy dog, and adult food probably has more vitamins to stimulate good bones, etc, etc.

It is advisable to keep your pet on a dry puppy formula til it is at least 1 year old,as the puppy formula has needed protien for growing pups.
