you shouldnt eat about 1-2 hours before going to sleep just to avoid stomach problems
not eating after certain time of the day - old wifes tales.
as long as you dont consume more calories than spend during the day you are not gona gain weight.
its all about calories in vs calories out.

That has nothing to do with it!

If you don't want to gain weight, you have to burn off the calories you eat. For a normal healthy adult, that's 1600-2200 calories a day. More if you are very active, less if you are not active.
What time you eat doesn't matter at all.

ive managed to keep off 50 lbs in the past 3 yrs. i try not to eat past 7pm, sometimes 8pm. if i do want something, i'll have less than 1 serving of wheat thins and decaf green tea. sometimes chai tea. its not easy for me to not eat past 7, but if i do, it is something small. oh and if u do eat past this time, then dont beat yourself up about it and dont give up. just work out more the next day.
