It's cold.
Gas - more condensation of heavier fractions.
Oil - Increase in viscosity.

The low temperatures(4deg.C)mean that steel pipeline could be at risk of brittle fracture (a crack which travels maybe for miles at the speed of sound (which is much faster than the speed of sound in air).All that is required is a small defect to start the crack running.The quality and processing of such steels is high,and the welding processes are very precise with extraordinary inspection methods.
In effect a ductile material like mild steel in such large structures might crack like glass.

COLD. It is 3 degrees celsius, which is right above freezing if the water were fresh. Obviously things in this environment must be designed to handle this temperature, as well as pressure and such.
