If the marine were a rational man, and not such a product of group thinking, he would tell those people they were absolutely correct. Unfortunately, many military men are so brainwashed into believing that their country is infallible, and any military enterprise that it undertakes is laudable. Really this marine should not feel indignation at the Iraqis for underscoring a basic truth. He should instead be enraged at his government for selling him, and his compatriots, into the fatal lie that is the Iraqi occupation.
If I were that marine I would concur with what these people were asserting and apologize for the actions of my government. That is the moral thing to do. It is time that we start to inculcate in our population that the most masculine and gallant thing to do is speak the truth, and not merely proclaim the greatness of our corporately driven war machine.

The marine fights so that we all have free speech, even really rude jerks; that is probablby hard to get your head around but that's the way it is (or should be) here. Not many have the courage and self control of that Marine, he behaved correctly although it's too bad he let those folks make him so angry.

What should he have done to the Iraqi........WTH, he shouldn't 'do' anything 'to' him at all. He's on American soil, people can say whatever they want to--right or wrong, makes no difference.
No one wants to be told that they're wasting their time doing anything, so anger is not an unreasonable reaction to that.
However, there's nothing 'to do' to another person for that.....what do you think he should have done---punched him in the face?? What would that accomplish besides spending time in jail, going to court, possibly being charged for a hate crime....?

I understand his anger and it was very rude of the people to speak to him that way. It is, however, not a crime to be rude and this marine did what he should have done. He did not engage. The best thing to do in such a situation is leave it.

Sounds like BS. Every Iraqi in this country was here running from Saddam. I have never met one who felt we should not have gone in. You should ask yourself why you feel you need to make up stories. See a doctor.

They are right. The war will end up like Vietnam. Yeah the guy had a right to get angry. But the Iraqis would be even more angry at America destroying their prosperity.
