My only answer is to either scrap it or have it fixed. Personally I'd scrap it.

I had a Sony for a couple of years and after only ten thousand pictures it burned itself out. After only about four thousand pictures I started having problems getting the lens to fully close or open. It was the most frustrating camera I've even owned and I will never own another Sony.

When it did burn itself out I found trying to get it fixed just wasn't cost effective. It made more economic sense to replace it. I replaced with with a Canon PowerShot G7 and have been happy ever since.

I wish I could offer some suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix it but whatever it is, it's internal so that means a repair.

I hope that helps a little. Good Luck!

Is there a reset button somewhere you can try?
