I recently answered a question on the subject of "gratefulness" and in my opinion, the bulk of answers given were thoroughly off the mark. God got all the glory for what others had done.

When you feel grateful, do you apply your thanks in the right direction and thank the folks you owe that grateful feeling to or do you bow your head and pray into empty space...?

Of course I thank the person who did it. That is the right thing to do.

I asked almost this same question a few weeks ago.

I'm not an Atheist. I DO believe in God - but I believe God to be the Power of Love. It is there for us to use - if we choose to do so.

So - I was thinking about whether or not I should thank God - because really It doesn't DO anything. It just is. And truly - It doesn't care if I thank It or not. So - I'm grateful that God is there - but not for what It's done.

Very often I'm grateful to others for their love - which is the Power of God working through them. But I don't think I'm grateful TO God - just that It's there. Love is there.

Geezm. Is any of this making sense??? I was really struggling with this a few weeks ago - so I was glad to see your question.

Namaste!

Aldah: I thoroughly understand what you're asserting. and that i do no longer think of you're being overly dramatic once you communicate with regard to the magnitude of gratitude. I agree that that is crucial to our lifestyles. i'm tempted to wax theoretical on the techniques i think of so, yet that ought to make this answer too long to envision. yet i think of I understand what those human beings -- people who're asserting atheists can't be grateful -- are asserting too. The adventure of gratefulness is often directed at something, even whether that's barely myself. So i could ask you, to whom or to what are you grateful? To existence or to the universe? if so, that is my opinion which you're grateful to a pair source, and subsequently you're grateful to God, even inspite of the undeniable fact which you're no longer utilising theistic terminology.

I thank people because it is they that deserve it be it a big thing or a small that is done. I was raised that when someone gives you hand or helps in any way it is a sign of respect and proper to thank them then and there. I've done this all my life and people are amazed especially where I work that I get so much cooperation but really, give a little respect you'll get it in return.
