If you are looking for a more casual place, I'd suggest Pacific Beach or what we San Diegans call PB. Its off of Garnet Ave 92109. There are severalllll bars and restaurants to eat. What days will you be coming? PB bar and grill has food specials every night of the week. TACO TUESDAY Is the best! Drink specials til the cows come home. If you are looking into more upscale and rather expensive dining, Downtown is exactly that. Over priced, over crowded but the food is great. I'd suggest Gaslamp strip club. They have grills and you order delicious steaks or chicken, season them yourself, and you stand around these grills and cook it to your liking. Full bar as well. Like a more speak easy place? Ocean Beach (all the way down the 8 west freeway) offerers several bars (similar to PB) but its not overly crowded and they have casual dining restaurants at great prices. (Great seafood prices!) Lastly, Dave and Busters offers entertainment, food and drinks. Best time is during happy hour (sun-fri 4:30PM-7pm) and late night happy hour is 10-close. The food is okay, but who doesn't love half price drinks and games? Hope this help, have a great time!

Lots of good places in SD. The rooftop bars/clubs/restaurants: Altitude at the Marriott, Stingaree, J-Bar @ Hotel Salomar. Close to where you are staying is a new Jazz Bar, Anthology, as well as the Airport Lounge. George's at the Cove and Jack's in La Jolla are both great, but a drive from Little Italy. Also check out www.signonsandiego.com in the Entertainment- Bar & Nightlife sections.
Have fun!

Also ask at the front desk of your hotel for some good suggestions. Have fun. I love downtown SD and the Little Italy area. There is a great walking town with some really neat history.

The Yardhouse is amazing if u like beer..they have about 130 beers on draft. Their food is awesome and they have an underground ( no cover) on fri and sat nights after 9pm. Service is also excellent; there are always plenty of bartenders and waitstaff around the huge bar so even at the busiest times..the wait is not too bad for a drink.

it depends.. i personally hate downtown San Diego.. Not worth it! but if you do end up there Altitude at the top of the Marriott is a great lounge.. Lei Lounge in University Heights has great food and crowd i recommend the White Sangria or the Geisha Ice Tea.. and lastly Jacks in La Jolla has that real swanky crowd that is not over priced

Check out seaport village. It's not that far and it's off Harbor Blvd. There's also Anthony's on Harbor which has amazing seafood! Or you can always check out gaslamp quarter. There's a bunch of bars down there!
