TO BE HONEST IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT FOR NOT CHECKING THE TICKETS YOURSELF.

I don't know about your laws, but in most states in the USA, a lottery ticket is considered to be a "bearer instrument". This means that whoever "holds" the ticket owns it. People who win giant jackpots almost always "disappear" while they hire an attorney and/or an accountant to help them with the leaglities and the investment issues involved.

These guys all already know that in the event of theft or loss of the winning ticket, that they are completely out of luck. T Few people, if any, would never simply "hand" a winning ticket to any stranger, for any reason...

Your story is just another reason why I choose not to spend my cash on dodgy gambling schemes.

That really really is a sickening story, hope it works out for you

I remember a similar story in Canada. A service station owner was given a ticket to check, he said there was nothing on it, and trhew it in the bin, however the ticket owner checked it on line to discover he'd won $4 million, the man at the counter was never seen again.

Several years ago my sister took her ticket to a local shop to claim her winnings (£10) the lass on the counter said it's not a winning ticket and offered to bin the ticket, luckily my sister already knew she'd won a tenner so insisted on her ticket back. (My sis cashed her ticket at another shop.)
None of our family have been in that shop since.

That's awful, I have taken what I thought to be a winning ticket to the shop and been told it wasn't but nothing on that scale. I hope you get your winnings and I bet you will.

Why did you not fill in the back of the ticket as you are required to do for security. It states on the ticket fill in the back. Don't want to be pedantic but it's Champagne.

I always check my numbers on line and, when I do win, I tell the issuer exactly how much I have won. It's so easy.
