I would really like to know how Atheists believing God doesn't exist, and them telling you so, is considered prosecuting, if that's the case then by your GOD I've been prosecuted by CHRISTIANS nearly every single time I step into my school, since they're all trying to tell ME God exists and I'll be going to Hell and the whole guilt trip and fear thing. So does that mean I'm being prosecuted, some might say yes...but a majority of Chrisitans might say that all what they're trying to do is "save" me or whatever...that's prosecution in your logic though...two points for me (since I answered) Also, I don't know why CHrisitans get so...edgy, when I say that I don't believe that God exists...all what I'm saying is that I don't (and heres the zinger) *BELIEVE* God exists...I didn't say he *didn't* I might say he "dosn't exist to me" but that's it. So I really don't know where that constitues as a threat to your religion. You saying that God exists and anything else about your faith doesn't threaten me one bit...it's only when you push it on me is where I'll start getting mad. And it's not too hard to be above such materialistic things...I live a pretty simple life...yeah I got some expensive things...and it is for comfort, but I don't covet them...ask the Christians this next time...why do Chrisitans need such a big and rather expensive buildings (most of the time) to worship when all you REALLY need is a place to kneel and pray? (I know that some churches are really just mobile homes, so that's why I said most of the time) And why they need to give up money every week? Just a couple of thoughts for the CHrisitans...hope this helped ya (insert name here)

Yes, it is. Turn on the tv and you are bombarded with ads designed to make you want to consume more.
Switch channels and gasp! Those people couldn't be up there showing the most disgusting and intimate aspects of their lives while the host smiles and urges them on? Shades of a Roman Coliseum, with the masses hungry for more tears, blood and personal indignities.
Oh, great. Here's the history channel-what? Creationsists are idiots. Oh.
Bingo! Yes, found a preacher. He wants me to send him the title to my car and my first born child. In return, he will send me a book called "Fleecing the Sheep in the Name of God."
I'm answering this with humor because that is the way I get through these things. Jesus told us clearly that the prince of this world is satan and we can't judge God based on what we hear and see from others.
As a young Christian I used to get shocked by such things, now I change the channel. It's still shocking, still horrifying, but wasting my energy on it is not what I feel God wants of me.
The good thing is, I know that He exists, and no amount of ppl telling me that He doesn't will change that. The material things of this world mean little to me, not when I have ppl to love and God in my heart. When I find myself lusting over a new car, a bigger house, a better view I have to remind myself: God has given me all I need.
Thanking God for what I have, here and now, gives me the peace to be able to turn away the material side of my nature and concentrate on what is really important.

It is very difficult to be a Christian in America today. "People will hate you for my name's sake. But just remember, they hated me first" Christ died on the cross to save us from sin, and death. But this did not wash away hate. The name of Jesus Christ and of God have become "bad words" to many people in America today. This is why in many cases if you speak to someone about the Son, or the Father, they will just give you a blank look, as though you are insane, or will simply walk away.
The media has played a large part in the removal of God and Christ from our society. Nearly every television show, and every movie, features sickness and depravity on a scale unimaginable even 30 years ago. Our society has blotted out the name of God from it's currency, and from it's "soul". It is this society that the Lord returns to avenge, and to judge. All will be tried, both the innocent and guilty alike. Many Christians have fallen by the wayside, especially on the far right. There is no promise of a "rapture" anywhere in the Bible.

All we can do is compel them to come to God and then it is their choice to do so. As for us living in a materialistic world; well we can not be or should not be a part of this world. We are only on barrowed time. We are to be separated due to the fact this is not our home, and the way nonbelievers live is not the way we are suppose to live. God did not say; it would be easy for us. Now do you understand how Jesus felt, what little time He was here! I would druther have Jesus control my life, that will be for eternity; than a materialistic world that will fade away. We need not concern ourselves with the materialistic of this world, our concerns should be focused upon what God wants us to do while we are here on borrowed time! My friend; lean on God He will not forsake you and be in continuous prayer for others.

It is easy if you take the advice of Jesus and not cast your pearls before swine. Always remember to keep your innermost heart to yourself.
Anyway, you will get over the shopping mentality of being an American when you get married and have kids and then you will have no money ever again!
Oh yea, read the Universal Theology of the New Jerusalem by Emanuel Swedenborg, that should do it for you.

Christians are called to be in the world but not of this world. To be light and salt to the world. When we are persecuted for Jesus' sake we are blessed. Know that a fool says in his heart. "There is no God." - Psalm 14:1. Agree with God that these nay-sayers are fools. You will feel better.

Yes sometimes it is. But we just have to remember that God will never desert us and that those people who try to destroy our belief in Him are agents of evil. There's not enough money in the world to replace God's love.

You're right. But don't get overwhelmed with the materialism and hedonism of today's "culture of death." Just stay connected with the Word who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
