I know i have some kind of mental illness but have never talked to a doctor about all of my problems! Except for a brief time and they suggested i had depression but i didn't tell them EVERYTHING. I have never been properly diagnosed or been on any medication. I know yahoo answers is not the place for this but right now i have no money or medical insurance and I'm 20 years old. Below me i will describe my problems I'm having and at the very bottom i will give you a little bit of information about my passed. My over all question is what mental illness(es) does it sound like i have?

I sleep a lot sometimes 16 or 17 hours a day. Sometimes my mind fells like it is racing with multiple thoughts. I have thoughts of suicide on a regular bases. I fell worthless, ugly and good for nothing. I fell alone as if no one else is like me. I lash out sometimes in violent behavior(punching the wall, cussing, yelling at someone)over big or small issues. I hate going out in public I'm always thinking I'm being watched by other people, being judged and/or making fun off(being laughed at). I rarely go out in public for anything not to work or school or anything fun. Say i go get an application somewhere its just to much for me i start breathing heavily and shacking to the point where id rather be dead at the moment then be there. I'm extremely sensitive and cant take jokes. Sometimes im cruel to animals out of anger and rage. I have abnormal thoughts. Have talked to people that where not really there to fell less lonely...ect... Im anti socail dont talk to people much or have friends.

But the weird thing is sometimes for a period of time the exact opposite happens and i fell good and confident and talkative which believe me is abnormal for myself. I fell live i can take on the day and be happy and get out there and start living my life but this state of mind never last long and I'm quickly back to my regular routine of feeling like crap.

Below me is a little bit of the negative things i have been threw in my past!!

I think you definitely need to visit a G.P and talk to them about it so they can treat you or refer you to the right person. It sounds to me as though you definitely have depression and anxiety. You are feeling angry because you are sick of being this way and because it is affecting your life so much . You don't want to socialise because you feel you have nothing to say to these people (they all have a job & a life) and because they wouldn't understand you if you told them how you were feeling or they (and you) would feel uncomfortable talking about it. Your self esteem is low because of the way you have been treated in your childhood and this has led to your depression and anxiety. I'm sure counselling or medication would really help you. You may be sleeping such long hours because of the depression but then again you may have a medical problem e.g Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or be anaemic so you need to get checked out for any physical problems also. Best wishes .

You may have bipolar disorder and/or borderline personality disorder, but diagnosis can only be done by an in-person interview. If you don't have money or insurance and live in the United States, every county in the country has county provided (or contracted) mental health treatment for people with limited income. I suggest you take advantage of it so you can have a more comfortable, productive and enjoyable life. Here is the phone number to be connected to mental health services in San Diego county...I know you probably don't live here but I think they will help you to find the service providers in your community cause they help anyone who calls and they have tons of information. Also, their phones are answered by mental health professionals so they really understand. The number is available 24 hours a day and there's no charge 1-800-479-3339. Please get help; you'll feel so much better soon.

Another possible resource is to call "211" as many communities have that number set aside to be referred to community resources. Not all states and counties have this set up yet, but you might try it. Just dial 211.

Another way to find a local mental health provider at little or no cost to you would be to get a referral from your local suicide hotline. To find your local provider see the link below - step one you input your zip code, and for step 2 click on "Suicide Prevention Hotlines". Up will pop the number of your nearest mental health hotline. Whoever answers the hotline will be able to direct you to the nearest provider for mental health services that will be free or very low cost. http://www.211.org/ReferWeb/MainForm.aspx

Sounds like a sucky life growing up. Still, you draw from it what you will.

There are, obviously, feelings of inadequacy and anxiety. Panic attacks, almost. Yet they are countered by extreme highs, which suggests bi-polar. We here can't really diagnose you - you need to see someone and be honest about where you are and what it does for you. It's nothing to be ashamed about - it seems your parents did a mind job on you (also known as a head f**k), so your job is to figure out how to extract yourself from it and rise above it.

Okay, part II. You have no insurance, no money for treatment. So start here: Your parents have problems. Contrary to popular opinion, ANYONE can be a parent, even the mentally ill. All you need are sperm and eggs. That does not mean that the people involved are QUALIFIED to be parents. Sometimes not. Yours weren't. You can't change that, but do what you think needs to be done. Sometimes parents screw up their kids in a major way. Don't assume your parents were right. For many people, they are, but for a certain percentage, they're not.

I'm not a doctor but.... You are lonely and afraid you'll go on being treated badly in life. You feel powerless so you sometimes try to regain power and confidence. You could change with counseling and maybe some medica tion for social anxiety and depression. If you do not do what you can to see a doctor about this, make it a priority, you could develop a mental illness. As of yet, without you saying more, I don't think you have one. You DO need to start seeing someone about what's going on with you though. And for what it's worth, nobody's yet said the disease you will end up with if you don't start taking care of your thinking patterns....

Could be many things and probably is a combination of some: depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, post-trauma, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, avoidant personality disorder, anti-social personality disorder....

Re: bipolar - if when you have racing thoughts and/or when you are feeling just fine you don't *need* much sleep (different than not able to sleep), then maybe it's bipolar or the lesser form called cyclothymia.

Whatever the problems, you aren't going to get to a robust healthy place reading a book or self-help techniques. So, get off your *** and make an appointment with a psychologist, therapist, or psychiatrist. If you don't have money, contact your county government. They have programs that would help.

Sounds like you have major depression from dwelling on your past. You need to let that go and start your life over. There's a great book our called "Real Magic" by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. It's a self help book that teaches you how to be happy, healthy, successful and prosperous in daily living through positive thinking.

Also, go to your local Dept. of Human Services and see if you are eligible for medical care. You definitely need to see a psychiatrist and get on some kind of antidepressant like Zoloft or Wellbutrin. I take both and I no longer suffer from major depression.

Perhaps you could sign up for SSI. You need a doctor's medical records for that. Good Luck!

OK friend...take a deep breath. You definitely have depression and possibly bi-polar. You were abused as a child, thats where all this anger, depression, etc. is coming from. You need counseling to deal with, talk about, this abuse. I would also recommend relaxation excersizes. It also sounds like you have social anxiety/social phobia. Please, email me. If I knew what part of the country you reside in I could do some research and find where you could go for help, without insurance. Haang in there! It IS possible to beat this!!!

I think the baest thing to do is to go see your doctor or a person who knows about this stuff. Trust me its hard at first but it gets easier. You might find it uneasy to talk but it is the best thing to do. Sometimes (and this may sound silly) its just good to get what your feeling on the inside out in the open it lets the pressure off your head a little.
I hope i help and i wish you all the best
