Hello,

I have a Labrador and she has been really tired lately - when I take her for walks she is usually 3-4 metres in front of me, but now shes 2-3 metres behind me. She is 6 years old, and has recently been peeing in her kennel/bed and not getting up to pee. What could be the problem?

You need to get her to the vet and have her checked out. Any time you notice a change in her eating/bathroom behavior it's a good idea to get her checked. Especially since your dog can't tell you "I feel sick".

This could be symptoms of several problems. It could be something very simple like a urinary tract infection or it could be something more severe like diabetes. The first step would be to have the urinary tract infection tested with with simple urinanalysis which you can just collect a sample and take it to your vet. If that comes back ok, you would definately need a vet visit for further testing and diagnosis.

It maybe diabetes. Take her to the vet for blood work. The symptoms point to this, but it could also be the symptoms of many other things too.

The sooner you get her checked out the sooner you can work on putting things right. If it is diabetes she will need insulin, but I have had animals live many happy years as diabetics.

She may be having kidney problems- get her to the vet immediately. My cat had similar problems (being tired, peeing a lot, and drinking more than usual)- the vet tested him and he is in kidney failure, which by the way is irreversible.
