have a 1997 Dodge neon that will not start first thing that came to mind was the igniton switch so it was changed still no luck, here's what is happening put key in go to turn over nothing happens, no radio, no idiot lights on dash no nothing absolutely dead, the battery has been changed checked the grounds seem to be fine have checked the fuses under the hood seem to be fine starting to trace the wiring from the fuse panel, so far I have found that there seems to be no power to the radio & instruments panel fuse when testing I'm now going to pull out the fuse panel and check all leads going into it to see if there is a loose wire that is grounding the car out. If any knowledgeable people can assist with ideas please help

Check the main ignition fuse. This will cut power out to everything. Also check the fuel pump fuse. The pcm on neons draw power from the fuel pump and nothing will turn on unless the pcm does. With the ignition in the on position, listen to see if the pcm is buzzing. It should be. And people here need to stop dissing on neons, there has never been anything wrong with them. I suppose their civics are better?

Dodge Neon's have had a problem with the positive wire at the battery. There are 2 cables coming off the possitive terminal. One goes to the starter, the other runs the circuits that are dead. It's a fuse link wire. Check this wire It has a history of doing what you discribed.

Just because the fuse looks good does not mean it is good. But it sounds like an in line fuse-able link has gone bad.
