Yes, but
There's two different truths that you are referring to here. There's sensationalistic truth which is geared towards getting a reaction out of you like media, gosip, or entertainment. It's a machine that feeds people emotional side like caffeine in the morning. People love controversy and the media capitalizes on it.
The second Truth you're referring to here is the Truth of existence. "Why are we here?", "Is there a God", "Is there an afterlife?". These are questions that people often have a great doubt in, but preach to others to relinquish this doubt. They aren't lying to you, because they actually believe, or want to believe what they're telling you is true.
From what I've seen, people have the capacity to see Truth within themselves and that religion only confuses us from seeing this Truth. There will come a time again when someone will see outside of the confusion and it's that person who can change the world.

well i definately am and if god existed then he should not be throwing people to hell because then the whole world would be there because the world is full off lies everybody tells a lie but that is also a good reason not to belive everything people say because you cant trust any body so if poeple stop lying about everyting then you would not have to worry about lying :)

The thing is with religion, you should only believe what you are comfortable with. A lot of parables are clearly myths with a moral code at the end, and if you look at the bible as a series of philosophical morality stories it's a lot more enjoyable.
At least, that's how I got through going to church in Lithuania... If you think Evangelists preach, you should try and answer back to a Lithuanian padre.

"Truth" is relative. It always depends on a point-of-view. So simple a statement as "Grass is green" involves an infinity of chemical considerations, but also an infinity of physiological considerations, all of which make the perception of "green grass" the subjective experience of certain human beings. And even then, there is obviously no means of deciding whether my "green" is your "green." We have nothing to go on but the apparent similarity (not identity) of our impressions.
So for every object of consciousness. The Buddhist terminology - "There is a consciousness of a tendency to perceive such-and-such" - is nearer to the reality; but of course that statement can be broken down in the same way.

I haven't heard such honesty in a long time. I agree whole heartedly. I follow what I feel and what I know to be true. I don't need anyone's books to tell me how to live a good life. I know that if there is a reward for being a good person, I will obtain it by how I love people and care about the world around me. Not by doing some song and dance once a week.

I think your question is better phrased to "Is there such a thing as real?".
I do share your concern that influx of information opens up more to the possibility that "supposed" truth are indeed lies but that is why we have reason to determine which is true and which is not.
In the end, I believe that there is such a thing as reality - solipsismm is not a good option

Hi and Good morning Meow.....Whoa....having a bad hair day are we? You want a soooda? or a dooonut?...lol Trying to cheer you up! I understand your feelings about the 'lies and untruths'. I felt the same way as you do now, years ago. Made me a very 'unhappy' person. Now I can't comment on or about the T.V. issues, since you weren't specific on the actual topic that you are referring to regarding the media. Although the media can be a 'good guy' or a 'bad guy' depending what the story or issue is about. Sometimes the media can investigate a 'cover up' so do speak which lets us viewers know whats really going on. Then you have the reporters that just 'love' to exploit others or 'make up' stories just to hurt an individual or to make a name for themselves. The newspaper is the same way. They write what they hear. Some of the stories can be factual and others are just 'hear say'. As to the 'Holy Book' I believe what a lot of the Scriptures say, however, I do have an 'open mind' so do speak on some of the things that were written. I'm not saying that what is written is false or untrue, what I'm saying is that some issues in the Bible are questionable and one needs to apply the 'times' with todays era and society. The disciples had written Scriptures, along with 'others' that had written the 'Old Testament'. I consider myself a Christian but I don't even know who actually wrote the Old Testament. However I do know by research who decided on which Scriptures to place in the Bible and which one's to delete, which I feel was wrong. I believe that all the Scriptures should have been placed in the Bible, not just the chosen few. This is why I was so angry because I felt that the 'one's' that decided to place certain 'Books' in the Bible were being deceitful to the Christians and the Believers. What was in those Scriptures that 'they' didn't want us as Christians to know? It makes one think. Archeaologists had found Scriptures from Judas and Mary Magdelene as well as writings from 'Our Savior' but these weren't placed in the Bible...why? We may never know the answer. God had given us, His children, a set of laws or 'Commandments' for us to obey. And I, as a Christian, try to obey these Commandments to the best of my ability as a human and one of God's children. However, God knows I'm not 'perfect' either. He knows I'm going to make mistakes but I learn from my mistakes. No one is perfect but Him. In my way of thinking, God isn't going to throw one of His children to Hell because of a lie. This was not a Ten Commandment. It's a moral law but not one of Gods laws. Now it does state that one shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor which would be considered 'slander' or slandering one's good name but as to gossip this wouldn't be considered as a 'mortal sin' but a 'venial sin' which God will forgive an individual if they are sincere. The Catholic Church places sins in two catagories. A 'mortal sin' and a 'venial sin'. A Mortal sin is the most severe since one is breaking one of the 'Ten Commandments' which are Gods laws. If an individual commits a 'mortal sin' then they need a priest to ask for Gods forgiveness. A 'venial sin' is the lesser of the two in which God will forgive without a priest but God has been 'hurt' so do speak, due to the sin and the relationship between the individual and God may have been scarred. But He will forgive. So I feel that since God is a 'forgiven' God, that He won't condemn a person to Hell just for lying. Now if a person committed 'murder' per say and then lied about it, then thats a different story but as for a 'little white lie' or a a lie that wasn't intentional then I don't believe one will be condemned to hell. I believe there is 'hope' for us. But this is where our 'faith' in our God comes in. Jesus had written that as long as we believed in Him and belived in His Father that we as His children didn't need a building to worship Him as long as we had Him in our hearts and mind and soul. Our hearts are our temple, to believe in Him. So as long as we have faith in our God and His son Jesus, then there is hope for us in this world of lies and deceit. Hope this has helped. Take care and have a blessed day!

Have you gone seeking the truth for yourself, or have you been listing to the thoughts and beliefs of others?
In life I have heard many lies, I learned that in every lie there is at least one word spoken that is truth. Find that word, or sentence and do some investigative work to discover what the truth really is.
Yes I have learned GOD sees and hears everything, so prayer leads to reveling of the truth.
