This is old news and pretty much all hype. DCA is only in the research phase. People first heard about it back in January and immediately went out and tried it . . not much progress being made by just trying it . . people don't know dosages, it apparently creates numbness in fingers, arms, toes, and it has killed a couple of the patients prematurely. DCA may or may not work on some types of cancer, but specifically seems to be bad for sarcoma and lung cancer . . . so this is really just media hype with very, very little facts.

This has nothing to do with 'Big Pharma' and more to do with the people who wanted to 'patent' DCA to market it as a cancer drug. Do the research.

This is what the response to this hype was back in February:

I dont see why they cant just make a cancer cure super expensive or something. The government will subsidise it anyway and we can just pay an extra $50 a year of taxes to save 100's of 1000's of lives.

Give me a break! Please understand what cancer is before you post ingorant remarks like yours.

Cancer is not one disease. It is hundreds, perhaps thousands, of different diseases each characterized by the genetic mutations involved and the cell type afflicted. There is not one single disease of the genetic mutations that has a cure (MS, Tay-Sachs, Parkinson's, etc.). Cancer is no different except the mutations are multiple and some (if not all) mutations are accumulated during the patients lifetime not at birth. (somatic versus germ cells). We simply do NOT have the technology to detect and manipulate the human genome in vivo at this time.

Hmm
You know you could invest your money in the research dichloroacetate.
Start a fund raising, and get people involved.
Capitalism isn't stopping anyone from developing this drug.
What's stopping you? If you find the right formula, you will see a profit.
Why wait for the multinational pharmaceutical companies?
Capitalism has nothing to do with it.

Listen to Panda. DCA can cause neuropathy (permanent nerve damage that doesn't go away). How can there be one cure for many types of cancers with many causes? Think about it ....not very likely..

Big Pharma is not interested in anything that they cannot patent and therefore control as the cost of research is prohibitive when profits are not going to be uniquely theirs.

There is much more money in cancer treatment drugs than there would be on a cure. It's a sad thing.

1) That is not a cure for cancer, it is something that will target specific cancers.

2) The drug companies got where they are by copyrighting the drugs they produce so that they can charge extortionate rates for them.

3) They hold power because people need what they produce

Welcome to the world of Capitalism. Now you discovered the backside of this world, you can also ask yourself, what is really going on with the invasion of Iraq.

The more wounded people - the more medicine has to be used. Whom benefits from that? Whom has economical interests in the pharmaceutical industry?

Anti-smoking campaign? Whom benefits economically from that in the name of "health"?

There are thousands of those examples. People are being manipulated with in all aspects possible.
