As i was driving home tonight, i saw this dog walking around my complex, he had a tag on, i chased him, tried to stop him, all he did was bark and look at me weird, so I left him alone, but i felt bad and came back again trying to find him, drove around my block, finally found him, gave him one of my dog's treats trying to get the number but he was scary so I had no option but to leave him... ;-( What would you do? I feel bad cause i lost my other dog the same way, at the same time at night... I felt like I was reliving that nightmare, that's why I continued to get the number to call his family, but he wouldn't let me...

Bless you for taking such an interest in reuniting this animal with his family!!!It may take a while to win his confidence, but if you are determined, it can be done.Keep offering him food and water, while keeping your distance. When he no longer perceives you as a threat, he will allow you to approach him, but take your time, and take your cues from him.

i would approach very slow, stop and let the dog come to me
I have a great camera so i would try to get a picture,
and call the local animal shelter
I lost my dog and went to the shelter or called everyday
then about 2 months later the shelter called and told me a lady
had been keeping her at her home for about 2months
and finally turned her in
my dog was chipped and had a collar on, with the shelter tags
any way good luck

If it is a case where he was scary, then I would have called the police and notified them that there is a scared possibly mean dog running around loose with a collar on.. If it's early enough that you could call animal control or the pound go through them first..

Call your local law enforcement agency ~ ACO (Animal Control Officer) and see if they can send someone out to help assist you.

Alot of times there really nothing you can do but calling your local ACO ~ alot of times they are trained and have equipment that can assist in the capture so they can get the dog returned to its rightful owner....

With this dog who is clearly nervous of strangers no matter what they do I'd call the local dog warden to come and collect him at least that way you know he'll be ok until his owners collect him.
