Last I knew, the Intercontintental across the street from the Waldorf was THE most exclusive... Even the President had a hard time getting a room there.

No not at all You have place like the Waldorf Astoria Which may start at $800-$1500 per night.

It's one of the highest price in NYC, but I think the Waldorf Astoria has larger presidential suites that go for more money.

No, not my preference for sure! Either the Mandarin Oriental or the Four Seasons are pretty good.
