It looks as though digital cameras are free from customs duty but additional lenses and other equipment would not be. See the link for a table of rates applicable.

Vat at 17.5% will be charged in any case. Also note that the carrier may also make charges for clearing the item through customs.

I got my fingers burned with buying from USA. What happend, is that anything worth more than £35 you have to pay taxes on when it comes through customs. In my case, the sender had insured my package for what it was worth, and that was obviously more than I had paid. This value was on the front of the package, so I had to pay another £30 to have it delivered. Even if the value is not on the package, they have the right to open the parcel, and often do so. So please do beware. I can't remember the exact percentages, but you will find all the info on E Bay. Hope this helps and Good Luck. x
I've just found this for you, so check it out. Beware that even though the seller may pay all the taxes in the USA, that doesn't mean you won't have to pay our government taxes. x

i understand I even have offered from eBay sellers in the two England and eire. costs are with regard to the comparable, yet you do pay so lots extra for delivery. i'm specific that's the comparable any incorrect way. there is likewise a delay for customs inspection sometimes, too. i offered a impressive Irish language set of books and CDs for an exceedingly functional value, yet then had to pay that value back for delivery. It became nicely worth it because of the fact eire became the only place i ought to get it. I additionally offered a impressive 6 string ukulele/guitar from an English company, and back, the delivery became extreme, yet no person in the States had something like that. in case you desire them badly adequate, i assume that is nicely well worth the better

The seller has to put the total amount for transaction.
You could add up your purchase and e-mail for dollar total and convert into pounds.
Do not part with money until your read feedback and get final price via e-mail from seller.
Use pay pal if they offer insurance protection.
Good Luck
