Didn't Jesus use "magic" to cure that blind man? I consider that witchcraft. When in Harry Potter the antagonist uses a spell "Avada Kedavra" - why do you consider THAT a sin? I mean NONE of it is real...

Why do you have such issues with the imagination - we cannot even use our earthly pleasures in peace!

...And then you exclaim "Harry Potter is evil...blah...blah...blah..."

miracle and magic are basically the same thing - what is the difference? They are both abstract. We can't see them. They are done through ones imagination. They only have different names. Oh and living in the Christian world full of miralces is just nonsense. It too is a fairytale world.

No, Jesus did not perform magic. When a witch or warlock can heal a blind man or raise someone from the dead, then we'll talk.

For the record, I'm not against Harry Potter, and I'm a Christian. However, what SOME Christians are against is that they think Harry Potter is an endorsement of witchcraft, which is specifically forbidden in the Bible.

I wonder how those Christians would feel if they knew that Joanne Rowling (better known as J.K. Rowling) is a member of the Church of Scotland and holds Christian beliefs.

Some Christians, like Pentecostals, actually believe that things like demons, sorcery, miracles, Satan, and so on are actually real - so they believe that children who are exposed to this stuff might be drawn to the evil side.

Also, fundie Christians tend to dislike imagination in general. In the 1980s the big outcry was d&d. I think they're afraid that if people start thinking about stuff that's imaginary, that the kids might eventually start saying the same thing about their own faith.

If the magic that Harry Potter can do is a fiction, maybe the magic that Jesus can do is a fiction as well... that sort of thing.

Wanna come out from under your rock and take a look at the real world? The vast majority of the Harry Potter books sold round the world were sold to Christians. We love Harry!

FYI - Avada Kedavra is just J.K.'s way of saying Abracadabra.

Sheesh! Some of you people act like you only have 6 working brain cells and you need 4 of them just to breathe and stand upright.

I'm a Christian and I don't hate Harry Potter. He is just a fictitional character in a novel...what is there to hate? It's people (not just young kids) that think it is a true story and that Harry Potter exists that are the sad ones. It's a fairy tale about a boy who has magical powers...harmless fun.

First, Jesus did not use "magic" he used his divine power. While you might think this is splitting hairs I think it is worth noting. Aside from Jesus, who's power comes from the fact that he is God, all miracles were done at God's direction or God did the miracle on behalf of the asker. Elijah, Elisha, Moses etc...but the "magic" was not IN them.

Now for Harry Potter. I love it and have read all of the books and seen all of the films. I wish he got Fawkes in the end and I wish Lupin, Tonks, and Fred had not died. I loved the tie in with Snape and Harry's mother. I wish Rowling had told us Harry's job or made him a Hogwarts teacher so we knew one day he would be Headmaster.

P.S. i do magic tricks and can make water into wine with a bit of food coloring and a mixture of additives. does this make me the son of god, thats strange, i'm a satanist

for one i have no idea where you got that from but I'm a Christan and i don't hate harry potter. Jesus did not do witchcraft for a start. we believe that was blessed with the power to heal and spread the word after all he is the son of god ! its something we believe so its OK if you disagree. but witchcraft is something different which is used by pagans

If people get into witchcraft they realise how nice it is and equal to women and relaxed about sex.

then they see how chrisitins pervertedly raped and tirtured and abused and murdered the withches.

they see witch herbal cures work as the same principles as any medicne and realise chrisitianity is lies and evil abuse not love at all but wicca is love.

and turn against christinity

If you changed Harry Potter to Jesus than that would be acceptable. They are very sick to think the way they do.
They truly are sheep one walks South the rest of them follow. You know how most sheep end up at the slaughter house, well wouldn't it be funny if there fictional Christ came back and he told them all to follow him, so they do and he takes them to an abattoir and he slaughters them all.
