I prefer the soundtrack. There is a version, of the main theme, with lyrics. Very nice.

No I didn't. I found it portrayed the Turks way over the top. The fact of the matter is unlike North America, most counties have a very low tolerance for crime and the punishment is very harsh if you break the law. The key is to do a little research to be sure you don't do something while travelling that will land you in that kind of trouble. On one hand i thought the guy was an idiot to take those drugs, but I really felt sorry for him too.

I think there are a few movies that have irrevocably changed Americans (perhaps for the worse), because they prey upon their deepest fears.

JAWS made a whole generation afraid to swim in the ocean. Even to this day, I'm even afraid of swimming in a lake, thinking a shark could have swam there from the open sea (it occasionally happens!).

Midnight Express made Americans scared to travel overseas for fear they'd be arrested and thrown in a hell hole jail. However, the movie is excellent. It just scares the hell out of me.

If you like Midnight Express, watch Brokedown Palace. It's about two girls who get arrested in Thailand for drug smuggling.

I'd like to see a nice movie about Turkey. I was in Alanya, and the place was beautiful. The weather was amazing: warm and pleasant, every minute of the day.

Anyone with a little sense and a tiny bit of knowledge about films would hate to see it again. Such a badly made one. Fake characters, funny translations, comic costumes and of course an absurd exagerrated story.
Fall into an American jail for importing drugs and see what will happen to you there.

Why would someone with a bit of common sense love such a stupid, denigratory movie? Propaganda my friend, anti-Turks propaganda, that's just what that movie is all about.
