Based on recent questions and answers, it SEEMS as if atheists are heavier readers than theists. To clarify this issue, I'd like to take a totally unscientific poll.

1) How often to you read scripture?
2) How often do you read strictly for pleasure? (Do not include studying, assigned reading, or scriptural reading.)
3) What is your religious affiliation?

I can't wait to see the results. Thanks in advance for your answers.

1) Very rarely these days, only to clarify something from memory

2) every day, I always have a novel that I am reading, as well as other non-fiction material for my personal enlightenment, the latest being "The Jesus Papers - the greatest cover-up in History" written by Michael Baigent - bestselling co-author of Holy blood, Holy Grail (the book that inspired the Da Vinci code).

did you include pagans in your research? if not, you should. i have never found a bigger group of such avid readers than pagans. most of them are constantly reading and educating themselves further in their own beliefs and other beliefs. i am one of the few pagans i have met that doesn't read on a regular basis, but i do go to many lectures, seminars and workshops, and watch "educational" tv - this is how i prefer to learn, but as i said, i am a minority amongst the many pagans i know

Why would an atheist read scripture?

Everyone reads something everyday whether it's the newspaper, novels, magazines, labels on packages or road signs. Splitting readers into the two categories of atheists & theists is ridiculous.
