to change seats after you've booked a flight on Orbitz, even if you stay in whatever class your seats were originally booked in? I got some really bad seats (back of the plane) and looked up that flight and saw that there are better open seats available, still in coach. So, I know I can change them, but will there be a fee?

That isn't the responsability of Orbitz to have such policy (charging to change a seat). At the best on my experiences when I changed a seat, I never had to pay for. But more and more companies are charging for the selection of the seats. My next trip from Vancouver to Honk Kong is charging around $30 u.s. for such selection in each way.

What you have to do: go to your ticket and try to find the modification button for the seat. Even if you try to change it, you will not be charged till a screen asks you if you accept the charge.
If you don't have a button for modifying the seat then you probably cann't change it.
I remember that I did change without fee my seats with a trip with Orbitz. The only airplane company involved was United Air Ways.

Sure you can and without a fee, don't call Orbitz, call the airline. It should be absolutely no problem as long as the seats you want are still available.

no, i don't think there is a fee. if you have never flown before then u prolly don't know that when u get on the plane there will most likely be open seats that u can switch to as long as no one is there. I have never had to pay a fee to switch seats on a plane. Hope that helps

I don't think so. Call the airline and ask them to move you to the seats you want, and if it's no problem, they will do it. Also, there are usually empty seats once you get on board and you can just move to them once everyone else has been seated. Happens all the time-- no problems.

As soon as the cabin door closes, get up right away and change seats if the seat is empty.
No problem. I do it all the time.
No need to notify anyone.
