If it has Liberty Cuffs..It's real.

Liberty Cuffs are fancy embroidery on the inside of the sleeves, often QUITE ornate. invisible when worn properly, Liberty Cuffs were turned up while on Liberty to show off the needlework. My Uncle's set had Chinese dragons that went nearly up to the elbow.

Besides the cut and quality of the uniform being superior to today's issues - I recommend you consult an antique collector.

Or alternatively, a top grade military tailor who's established practise goes back beyond prewar days!

There were millions of people in the military during WWII compared with a few hundred thousand now.

A lot of them were in the Navy and alot of them maybe saved the uniform.

Why would you bother faking something that's probably so common--millions made?

It's probably real.

You basically look at every aspects. How it is stitched, what kind of fabrics used, design...etc. In order to rule out recent replica. I'm sure there are experts who can do full blown investigation. I saw example of something similar in some TV shows where they investigate authenticity of some historical artifacts.
