God is not deaf to our thoughts and words.
In a sense we say and "think" EVERY THING, right "before" GOD!
This may not be called "prayer"; but it is communion with God (even though unintentional).
Maybe it IS a "kind" of prayer, since He hears ALL! ...not just our intentional "prayers", where we try to put forward our 'best foot' (almost hypocritically) but everything we ever say or think!
My wife and I have daily prayers (and so does our son and his wife, at their house), going over all the prayer requests we remember.
We try to pray "without ceasing", throughout ALL our hours of consciousness, as the Bible commands! Just TALK to Him!
Whenever you've forotten that God is present, in your thoughts (good and BAD), turn to Him immediately, and talk to Him about those (non-prayer) thoughts we wish He didn't hear!!!
Please, don't be shy about praying to God. Be yourself. He's listening.
He loves you, just the way you are...even MORE than you love yourself.

I just asked a similar question not even an hour ago. To answer your question, I pray in thanks for what I have, and the lessons that I learn when it is bad, when I do pray in a case of need, I pray for humanity and for others to open their hearts and minds, I always feel guilty for even thinking about praying for something convenient or materialistic.

I pray to God and Goddess ALL the time. I don't "use" God(ess) as a favor dispensing machine. I have established an open dialog with the Divine as close and very dear friends. I ask how their day and life is going and I tell them how mine is going. I share with them the highs and lows of my life, but I don't ask them to solve my problems. I KNOW that my life is about learning how to solve my own problems and to grow and develop as a spiritual being. I know that they give their Blessings to me and I offer my gratitude for those blessings. I also know that they place obstacles in my life for me to overcome and learn from and I express my gratitude for those as well. There have only been a couple of times where I was "angry" at them for some of my difficult times. Later I came to understand why those hard times came about and I sincerely apologized to them for my anger (oh, the brashness of youth, I think we ALL go through that at least ONCE in our lives). God(ess) never takes offense at that. They know that it's ALL a part of the lesson that we ALL will have to learn. They LOVE us, even when we are angry at them, and try to be more gentle about teaching us the lessons of life.

No. I pray to thank Him. I am in college, I have a job, and I (as with most people that have computers to read this) have a life that could be a lot worse.

I don't pray to God at all, as I do not believe He exists (but am open to the concept) When I do ask for help, my Patron is there for me and I've never failed to get results.

Absolutely not, what is greater? Love or request? GOD desires our Love, GOD already know what our needs are
before we ask. So Let us all Love GOD through Christ.
And when you pray , let no man see you pray, but our
Father knows our mind. Love them both.

No. God's Presence is a constant. I constantly chat with Him.
And yes, I have been known to do this out loud. (Get caught on occasion, too!)

Of course, since I need Him all the time.
But we talk, we hang out. I tell Him of my thoughts, my dreams, my sadness.
Most people do seem to only seek Him when in trouble. Me, I tell Him how great things are going when they are, since He is the One that made it such.

God is unchanging.....and intelligent....our prayers can not alter the way god sees us...or the way god reacts to us....God loves us and has no ego...it is up to us to learn who we are and we have an eternity to do it.....perfection takes time.
