Well, first of all, as a man, you have to understand this- Most men see such things as such- are the cabinets still capable of holding and supporting a can of peas or a few glasses? If yes, then all is good and there is no need to spend money that can be better spent on beer or golf.
Now, as a gay man, I think I see things a bit more clearly, as my mind is not quite as clouded by superfluous testosterone.
First of all, I think a lot of people get entirely too caught up in redecorating and buying new home furnishings when it is not needed. But a lot of times, it just simply IS needed. You have to live with this, so, is it some aweful olive green from the 70's? Really, it doesn't matter what decade it's from. If it's old, it just gets harder and harder and harder to keep clean. Dirty lil smudgey areas, you know? Like if you clean it hard enough to get it clean you have worn off the finish. If you can't get it clean and sparkly it makes for an uncomfortable environment.
Creaky ill fitting hinges, greasy schmoe that will never come off- intolerable. It is somebody's job, (probably yours and not his) to keep all this looking good. And there comes a point where one has done all they can do and it still looks kinda ghetto. So yes, I agree with you. You do not sound like a needy rich wife who needs to redecorate every other day, but damnit, things only last so danm long!!!! You might remind him that your house is an investment and he might wish himself luck selling it with nasty wallpaper and cabinets that have been scrubbed within an inch of their lives. Hmmph!!!

Depends on what sex you are. Wallpaper is good for the life of the house for a man. Especially if he is the one doing the papering.
Cabinets are good for a century according to a man. Especially if he has to give up a new set of golf clubs.
A woman can have a new dress for 2 weeks and "it is a real old rag" and needs to get a new one.
You can see where this is going. Men and women just have a different sense of time. I'd settle for doing the least expensive or most needed. Not all items at once especially if you want the husband to do the work.
I put up new paper in our bedroom 19 years ago. I never got around to doing the upper border but I still have it in the attic. My wife said it was 30 years ago but the house is only 20 years old so I know she's lying. ( I think)

You go Girl. I would go crazy thinking I had to look at the same wallpaper for 15 years. If you cannot afford new cabinets, paint them and get new knobs. Go to a good lumber yard or paint store to have them help you when and if you decide to paint your cabinets. Your cabinets may need to be sanded first and a base coat applied. Professionals have some great ideas and pointers for the do-it-yourselfer like me. Some places even offer free classes. Check around and get busy your husband may want you to redo the entire house.

I thinks its personal choice unless the wallpaper is near water or gets wet then i think it should go down every 2 years (or not put up at all near water) because it can cause mold and the wall starts to rot.

husband wrong you are right....imagine how many gooey fingers have touched or wiped themselves on that stuff in the last 15 years, thats what i did! but my house is 150 years old and was needing new wallpaper and knobs....ooooo...so replace them all and tell hubbie to scrape the goo off one and see how discusting it is....or better yet take a knob off and show him the underside....ick!
good luck!
plus i at least replace my knobs every year now...or clean them good if expensive ones
