UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission & MPSC stands for Maharashtra Public Service Commission. Both these organizations are conducting examinations for various jobs available either in central government or in Maharashtra State government. These organizations notify for the dates & other details about various examination with regards to jobs available in the government sectors, the UPSC is conducting highest job examinations such as IAS,IPS,IFS etc whereas the State government jobs are being conducted by various state public service commissions. Check for the details about these examinations in the government gazette or websites.

The Union Public Service Commission ( UPSC ) is India's central agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Examination , Engineering Services Examination , Combined Defense Services Examination , National Defense Academy examination , Combined Medical Services Examination , Special Class Railway Apprentice , Indian Economic Service / Indian statistical service examination , Geologist's Examination and Central Armed Police Forces ( Assistant commandant ) Examination . Out of this whole chain of examinations held by the UPSC the Civil Services Examination is the first to hit the rank . It is one of the most prestigious examinations in the world of success . Historically it has been sought career by young and talented individuals and it has not lost its prestige value admist the recent popularity of IT and management careers. This examination is also commonly known as the IAS Exam or the UPSC exam.

The UPSC exam is a common entrance exam for the services of the central level like Indian Administrative Service , Indian Foreign Service , Indian Police Service , and Indian Revenue Service , etc .
