Oh, sooo sorry. I was told that a vet recommended car exhaust and said it was very humane. But you'll have to lay your dog in an ice chest or somthing and seal it off with the car exhaust attached. That is the only way I know where you don't have to go to the grocery store (dry ice in an ice chest for tiny animals).

I am so sorry.

I would definitely get a second opinion. First of all pnuemonia is not very painful, so your dog cannot be in too much pain. Second, there are many things they can be doing to make her breathe easier at the vet, so that shouldn't be an issue. No one dies that quickly of pneumonia. I am still treating my 11 year old dog for Pasteurella pneumonia after 2 months. She was checked inot the ER over two months ago and had fluid in her lung. They kept her for an entire day, then sent her home with an antibiotic specifically for that kind of bacteria. The infection migrated to her nasal passages and she is now on another antibiotic. She is not in pain, she is not near death, and you really can't even tell she is sick until she starts blowing her nose everywhere in the mornings. The whole time she had fluid in her lungs we had to incubate her with a vaporizer twice each day in a homemade "tent". Is your vet having you do that? Did your vet do a lung culture? Did he send it out for testing so he could identify if it was bacterial or viral? Sounds to me like he is just not doing enough.

I 'm afraid eanything you may try will give him a worse death than you can imagine. In your case, I would just give him something for the pain and comfort him as long as he is alive. He may actually make it, you know. Don't give him aspirin or paracetamol though, call a vet or the pet shop to find out what you can give him. Antibiotics would be recommended too. Call an emergency vet even in another town or in another state, I am sure they will give you info.

This is horrible, but I'll give you my best idea- canned whipped cream. It is full of nitros oxide, or laughing gas. I read that whole car exhaust thing and I've heard that b4, but it sounds like it would burn the throat and be rude. I'd fill a bag with the gas from a can of Rhedi-Whip (or however you spell it) and put it over the dog's head. He/she will go out very dreamy-like.
I'm so sorry. :(

Do you have a Humane Society or Animal Control in your area? The Humane Society or ASPCA might be able to help and may be able to come to you. Please see if you can look those organizations up on line and call. Some are available 24 hours a day. I'm so sorry to hear.

I'm so sorry about your situation. If there's no near vet in your place you might as well consult a doctor as to what could help your dog. your dog might still have a chance. good luck!

I feel so awful for your situation. Try calling the local Animal Shelter for advice. You can try to comfort him throughout the night and see if he makes it through.......Or, growing up in the country as a child - my father had to make the decision to use his rifle to "help out" our ailing dog one night. It is a hard thing to do so please make certain that this is something that you could actually DO....because if you didn't do it right..it would make your situation A LOT worse. Please think your options thoroughly.

Do you have a animal control or a animal shelter. They should be able to do it there. If not then you might have to drive. I know some people would do it themselves but I know that I couldnt be the one to do that. That or wait for it to die then burry it

I know this will sound cruel and inhumane, but if he is suffering and there are no other options, shoot him. That will put him out of his misery immediatly with no suffering. There are other things that you can do but it will prolong the suffering. I am so sorry!!!
