I get emails and read online about companies, like Lexington.com, that claim they can repair your credit report, "permanently remove negative items off your credit report". Of course, they charge a 99.00 start up fee, and then 79.00 a month. Considering a credit report can stop you from getting a loan, stop you from getting credit of any kind, it can stop you from getting a job. I wonder if anyone here on Yahoo Answers has tried this and if it really works? Thanks in advance for all your answers

Lexington Law (LL) has one of the better reputations among Credit Repair Organizations (CROs). That said, I would NEVER work with a CRO and I would NEVER recommend you work with one--not even LL.

If you wanna know some ways to improve your credit, there are lots of options available to you.

Feel free to hop over to myfico forums and PM me.

If a negative is reporting correctly, you or Lex Law have no grounds to dispute it and it would remain until the reporting period expires or until the data furnisher removes it themselves.

As for their claim of "permanently" removing negatives - there is "no way" they can guarantee it will be "permanently" removed.
If an incorrect negative is disputed and removed before the reporting period expires, the data furnisher has the right to correct the info on the account at any time and have it placed back on the reports. But they MUST inform the person before it is re-inserted on the credit reports.

Lex Law can easily soak you for a small fortune.
It takes time to dispute and then to re-dispute if the incorrect negative is verified instead of corrected or deleted.
The CRA's have 30 days to investigate if paid reports are used. They have 45 days to investigate if the free FACTA reports are used.
If any new info is added within those time limits, the CRA's will have an extra 15 days to finish their investigations.
Plus for the outrageous price Lex Law is charging monthly, you would have to stay on top of them constantly to make sure they are not dragging their feet.

Lex Law can easily stir up the sleeping collectors for any accounts you may have that are still within the collecting SOL for your state. Which, if you can afford to pay the negative it wouldn't hurt. If you cannot afford to pay, you may suddenly find a suit filed against you.

Take the time, and save a bundle by doing it yourself.
There are a few excellent "free" credit discussion boards (such as creditboards.com and creditinfocenter.com) where you can find the info needed to repair your credit yourself.

In my experience that whole things is not right. I've been through it. I have paid as required money which £70.00 for credit repair but they have not done nothing for me. just they sent out some ideas to take action. credit agency belong to act so they cant changed anything unless creditor concern. so you pay money for nothing just they will sent some of information what should you do but it is basic even can find those information in net. I kindly advise you just do everything yourself without paying them. In the event they could make your credit worst ever. speak to your credit agency like experice they will assist you further. if you need a assist to improve or starting your credit mail e-mail me on vishva_a@hotmail.co.uk i will assist you for free which i have done myself. US and same procedure. but there is information negative on you credit file certainly you can not remove without creditor concern. 100% sured

Basically what they do is start a small line of credit in your name and report weekly to your credit bureaus... usually all three of them. Most creditors usually report to only one, and reporting to three will help much. Usually what will help your credit more is getting alot of small balance credit cards and keeping your balances less than half of what your credit is. After 6 months your credit should be better (right as your intro rates tend to expire). :0)
