Kitty's are mysterious creatures:) She may have an urinary infection, she may be upset about having to take medications (if she isn't use to it), she may be getting older and having a hard time controlling herself...or she may even just be "mad" at something! They do make a spray that you can put on your bedding that will deter her from doing it there. Most pet stores should have it...or ask your vet about it. Good luck:)

I'm sprry you got such weird answers after asking for only sensible ones. I don't know a definite answer but our cat started urinating and defecating in the house (using her cat crunchies instead of cat litter) so we got her a tray and she's been fine ever since. Sometimes it's because of outside influences which you won't know about. An aggressive cat may have moved into your area and your cat is scared of it, or it's just as one answer said that your cat is getting old and has a version of human Alzheimers. It could be to do with her thyroid, despite what the vet said, they don't know everything. Try a cat litter tray and make sure you lock her out of your bedroom, maybe lock her out of most of your rooms if that's possible and just leave the litter tray in an available room. You might be able to retrain her this way. If not seek the advice of another vet, or maybe go in the Internet and see if you can get some information there. Good luck, I hope you sort the situation out.

She could have a urinary tract infection, make sure the vet checks for this. UTIs can be very dangerous for cats and lead to kidney and liver problems. Have her checked for that first, if she (hopefully ) does not have a UTI she could be having regular urinary incontinence- this happens in older cats. The vet may be able to give you pills to help her with that. Another thing to do is make sure you wash all the bedding and your mattress, then flip the mattress over. If all else fails you can keep her out of your room- since some cats actually do this as a way of expressing displeasure with something.

Your cat could be getting to old or the tablets are effecting her. Even though the vet said there would be no side effects, the medicine could have an effect of her system which could be weak.

My 16 year old often got 'caught short' literally near his tray because his kidneys were failing. He's now on tablets once a day and is doing great. Take your pud to the vet so they can have a look see...

Sometimes our older sick cats can start getting pushed around by the neighbours cats. She may now be fearful in going outside to the toilet in case she may get in a fight. Go to your local pet shop and they can sell you products which help repel them from your bed and maybe some catnip in the litter box might help!

The same reason my 90 year old dad started urinating on himself. Age? Senility? Inability to control its bladder? Arthritis? Too tired to move? Other health problems/concerns?

Hello!

She's trying to tell you something. She's either uncomfortable, unhappy or in pain. What's different since the last time she used her litter box? Maybe the pills are making her feel sick. Maybe she's hates the vet for sticking that thermometer in her butt. Whatever it is, she want you to know she's pissed.

Have you started her on a new bag of cat food recently? Remember the pet food recall was voluntary and hundreds of retailers did NOT remove the contaminated food from their shelves.

it is not uncommon for cats to lose their marbles as they start getting old just as a human would. it may be that she is just very confused or i hate to say this but her time may be coming and she is trying to be as close to you in the end as possible, not realizing of course that she is upsetting you at the same time. cats, more than dogs, get very strange when they get old.
