I'm trying to figure out how to rearrange my room. I posted earlier and I'm giving pics this time. How can I make it look less cluttered? I keep the futon up unless I have friends over. My closet is very small and I have a curtain up, ass you'll see. Please ignore the mess too I'm doing laundry hahahaha.

Some ideas for you:

1) Re-arrange your pictures/posters. Line them up in a row, with either the top or the bottom edges being in one line. Or: arrange them so that they all together form a big rectangle. In other words, they should all be completely inside that imagined rectangle on your wall.

Effect: you don't consciously notice that there is a system to this (i.e. it does not look boring or stiff), but there will be a less cluttered feel to the room.

2) Get containers for small stuff. Throw out a lot and organize what you keep in boxes. Get plain boxes for the cupboards and boxes that match your colors for countertops and the desk.

3) Move the fishtank, if you can. A room where you can walk up to the window always feels bigger.

Edit:

4) Improve the chest of drawers: The semi-see-through drawers look good - but only when the content is organized. If you don't want to bother with it, you could change them using nice colored or white paper. Alternatively use boxes inside the drawer.

What a pair of contrasting colour, like mild green? you comprehend that green and pink are surprising at the same time. although, do no longer feel embarrassment approximately your colour possibilities, whether you sense your room nonetheless seems "little girlish". it is your room, your area, your retreat. somewhat of portray the partitions, possibly you will hit upon some new products of paintings that seem somewhat extra state-of-the-paintings. the appropriate thank you to make any room seem extra useful is to do away with all the junk. take care of your stuff into your closet or cabinets so as that there is way less rigidity for you once you're there. and experience your area!

1] throw away trash
2] clean up clothes
3] clean off all surfaces
4] take down all pictures, boards
Now, assess. Is all furniture where you want it? Can any dresser/chest of drawers be re-arranged to make more room? Can the wooden 'tank' chests be put together?
5] can you get futon cover/window cover/closet curtains that match? Too many colors/prints/patterns make room look more cluttered.
6] Ideally, get a print for bed, windows, and closet with only 3 - 4 colors in it. Choose the lightest color you like for walls, the darkest for floors, and a medium to add to accessorize.
7] like the lady above said, line the inside of drawers or pretty color boxes, so we don't see all the mess. Put all bras in one, panties in another, socks, leggings, etc. Fold up everything bigger than those - all summer tops and all shorts in one dresser, all sweaters and winter tops with jeans, etc, in another dresser.
8] get pillows for accent in the three wall, floor, and accent colors.
9] make a ribbon board in that color too.
10] group all family pix in one large shape [ square, diamond, triangle ] on bed wall?, all friends in another big shape on TV wall?, and all 'fan' pix together, or on either side of window.
11] put laundry basket in bottom of closet, and a milk crate or other storage for miscellaneous. Get shelf dividers for closet.
Multiple skirt hangers and multiple pants hangers might help.
12] use wall hooks for bathrobe, jacket, and keys, maybe - don't need to put other junk there; maybe decorate around hooks with ivy or flower garland. Hang up mirror under hooks, and put robe/jacket at ends so you can see.
13] fill up the shoe holder put winter hat, gloves, scarves in top, then socks or hose or tights, then put heavy things [ shoes] on bottom. Boots go in bottom of closet.
14] now, assess roomagain. Everything is clean, neat, or stored, except stuff from top of dressers/desk. Get rid of what you don't want - donate, toss out, or store.
