There was a wide variety of religions, including Christianity and Judaism, which existed in the middle east before Islam, and many more before that, going back to the Babylonians worshiping their gods who were not unlike those of the Judeo-Christian-Muslim tradition.

Religions are meant to bring peace in the society as they are the code of life as instructed by God;so they are are same in essence but refined according to needs of society and intellectual capacity of human beings of that age;It was the same instructions which were first revealed at Adam, then Noah;then Abraham and then Moses and ultimately on Muhammad.During the periods when the teaching of prophets are overwhelmed by the interpreation of the people without divine sanction, new teachings were revealed essencially codifying the previous laws as required under the changed circumstances. So it can be said the prior to prophet Muhammad, the reigion was "Islam" but those religions were nicknamed or identified with the name of that law bearing prophet.

Judaism got here first. From it stemmed Christianity (they think of Christ is their Savior--Jews have self assurance they are nonetheless waiting for theirs). approximately six hundred years after Jesus 'died', Islam became into shaped, and their prophet is Mohammed, who authored the Quran and delivered approximately monotheism in the Arab countries. "Allah" became into certainly worshiped as a god, yet so have been many others on the time. So a connection with Allah in the previous testomony would be completely logical. the three faiths are well liked by the aid of fact the Abrahamic faiths, with the aid of fact all of them stem from the comparable source, have very comparable teachings, and their holy books reference many of the comparable human beings (Abraham being one in each of them).

A mixture of religions.
Jews who believed Jesus was a prophet but not the Messiah
Jews who believed he was the Messiah
Jews who thought he was a criminal
People who we would refer to as idolaters
Christians
And other people who I guess did not have any religion at all

Primarily Christian, but also Jewish and tribal. Apparently, the worship of unusual rock formations was common among many Arab speaking tribes before the advent of Islam. The Persians had Zoroastrianism.
