I know it will end up as fat but I could use some.

it all depends on your body composition. the less body fat that a person has the less of a decrease there will be from the resting metabolic rate to the sleeping metabolic rate. also the metabolic rate actually increases during the first sleep cycle then steadily decreases lower and lower until right before awakening. consuming nutrients before bed (30 min) can help to increase muscle mass and decrease body fat or increase body fat. it really depends on the foods that you consume and the quantity.
