Well i have teeth but theres no point cause when i talk or open my mouth nobody can see it.. its embrassing alot of people point it out to me they say "its weird how we cant ever see your teeth, do you even have any?" and its just humiliating. Plus my jaw is crooked which makes my face and features look crooked. My jaw clicks when i open it and sometimes i get headaches cause of it. I showed it to the doctor but she said its a hard joint to fix and would cost alot of money.. but really i want to be normal and have a nice smile and i want people to see my teeth. Its not like my teeth are small...they aren't but for some reason they just hide behind my lips. :( I have really low self esteem because of it.

TMJ surgery is not always the best route. It made my condition worse. They did exploratory surgery to see what was going on and to put the joint back in place. I was in terrible pain afterwards. Then my other joint began to slip out right away. The splint they made was painful and uncomfortable. So now both sides were now clicking, slipping, and locking up. The conservative approach was never suggested to us by the first doctor. The doctor rushed to surgery because he wanted money. They weren't treating the cause.

We sought a second opinion from another specialist who suggest physical therapy. He believed it was do to my poor posture and tightness in my upper back along with stress caused from the prior bracework that caused my joint to slip out of place. My problem was actually fixed by going to see a chiropractor with knowledge of TMJ and a massage therapist.

Ask your dentist or Dr. to prescibe a muscle relaxant to take at night. Also apply ice and heat to the joint. It's possible biting and grinding at night while you sleep can be aggravating the condition. You can buy mouthguards in any pharmacy. A custom mouth quard or splint can cost more at the dentist so this is a nice alternative.

It sounds like your teeth don't meet together properly. Eventually you can get the crowns to help level them out. I never took that route. It is expensive. But mostly just fearful of dentist work.

Also reduce stress. You carry it in the neck. Any car accidents that caused whiplash in the past or other recent injuries that coud've cause strain on you neck, or jaw muscles? Orthopedic pillows and trying to rest on your back with support pillows also puts less strain on the joint.

No gum, chewy stuff or two crunchy stuff until you get better.
See if these less expensive things works first. Wish you the best.

Okay, you might not remember me, but i answered one of your other questions, and i was not trying to be rude, i didn't catch the 0 at the end of your height. and yeh, i am tall, and no, that doesnt make be any better, i happenn to have ostenschloters, and the doc says i'm only going to grow more, which eventually, might give me arthritis in the knees, and if i'm not careful, i may need to get prosthetics at 35, so no, i'm not better than you! and if you didnt like my answer, you should'nt have chosen it as best, there were many otheres on there that woul have been better. but i'll actualy give a stab at this question, that is if you dont shoot it down, i'd say go to the dentist and ask for vaneers, it probly wouldn't help with the clicking, but you could place a strip of rubber in bettween thke molars, that could help. i might have the same problem, the lips are just in the way, with vaneers, i dont think that would do anything, but dont ask a doctor, ask a dentist.

The clicking sound is probably your temporo-mandibular joint. You should see a dentist and explain this to him. Typically. your bite is opened up to eliminate stress to the joint. This treatment should eliminate your headaches as well. I had the same issue as you describe and after crowns were placed on my uppers, the problem was resolved. Your issue is very common. Do yourself a favor and seek treatment.

Well, just save up until you can get it fixed! It's not your fault. I'm 15 and I have crooked teeth, and they told me I had to get braces for 3 years, but I haven't yet, because I'm not going to give in to the fools that tease me because of it. Your beautiful the way you are. If you want to get it fixed though, save up until you get enough. Don't let others bring you down though

dr. albert and polecats answers are correct...have your dentist examine you as TMJ disorder is really painful when it becomes full scale...if you are really concerned with your teeth you can have veneers or crowns fitted but they do cost a lot also...but i suggest that you have your jaw corrected first maybe this will re align everything...
