In 1959, the IAU defined the galactic coordinate system in reference to the Equatorial coordinate system.[1] The north galactic pole is defined to be at RA 12h49m, Dec +27.4° (B1950), and the zero of longitude is the great semicircle that originates from this point along the line in position angle 123° with respect to the equatorial pole. The galactic longitude increases in the same direction as right ascension. Galactic latitude is positive towards the north galactic pole, the poles themselves at ±90° and the galactic equator being zero.

The equivalent system referred to J2000 has[2] the north galactic pole at 12h51m26.282s +27°07′42.01″ (J2000), the zero of longitude at the position angle of 122.932°. The point in the sky at which the galactic latitude and longitude are both zero is 17h45m37.224s −28°56′10.23″ (J2000). This is offset slightly from the radio source Sagittarius A*, which is the best physical marker of the true galactic center. Sagittarius A* is located at 17h45m40.04s −29°00′28.1″ (J2000).

No, the galactic center is so far away that no spaceship we can make could get there by Dec. 21, 2012, much less get a message back. Forget the end of the Maya calendar and all the other idiot forecasts of the end of the world. People have been doing this for years and the only thing it does is distract from problems we might fix.

I rather have on no account heard of this "bobbing", and that i strongly suspect that our photograph voltaic equipment does not "bob" with admire to the galactic equator. to attain this, 2 opposing forces could could be appearing upon it. probably, our photograph voltaic equipment is travelling by area in a in the present day line, purely marginally (examine: infrequently in any respect) laid low with the gravity of neighboring stars. If we are, certainly, travelling in a in the present day line, then purely a million of three issues could be actual: a million) we are progressively drawing near the galactic equator 2) we are progressively increasing our distance from the galactic equator 3) we are travelling in a line it rather is exactly parallel with the galactic equator - a state so inconceivable that that's discounted outright it rather is secure to assume that the "galactic equator" strikes greater slowly than our photograph voltaic equipment - in different words, that we modify place greater quickly than the whole galactic equator. for this reason it rather is nearly particular, using no longer something greater advantageous than logic, that the sunlight does not "bob" with admire to the galactic equator. Having reported all that, after re-examining your question *back*, i think that what you meant became "the galactic middle". back, the galaxy is shifting by area, yet we are shifting with it, and progressively outward from the middle. That the galactic middle would comprise a black hollow is mere conjecture (in spite of the undeniable fact that consistent with what all of us understand of black holes). That this theoretical black hollow would be a wormhole is *particularly* unlikely. To the terrific of my know-how (admittedly dated), the sole way for a black hollow to theoretically variety a wormhole is for it to be donut-formed and rotating. you have got observed that there are in basic terms some great donut-formed gadgets interior the universe. great hundreds tend to variety a ball shape because of the fact of their great gravity. and that i can't for the life of me think of what any of this would *probable* could do with 2012 or the Mayan calendar thingy.
