Howdy everyone, I just had a root canal done on me on friday (1 week ago today) because of an infection in my root. The actual procedure went without any problems or much pain apart from sensitivity to pressure for the first 4 or 5 days. But 2 days after the root canal my temporary filling fell off. I took great care of not chewing on that side and if i did chew on that side it was very very soft things like pasta and so on. Well i went to get it refilled and they told me not to bite hard on it. Now today like 5 days later it fell off again!!! This time i was even more carefull not to chew on that side although today I ate chicken and chewed on that side by accident but chicken is not that hard! is it normal ffor a temp to last that little?? How long can i wait before getting it refilled? can i get an infection from the open tooth? I ask because i am in the midst of 5 finals and 3 lab final exams and cant keep wasting time going to the dentist back and fourth!

When my husbands temporary filling fell out, they told him to stick it back on with denture adhesive. No joke! We were out of town and couldn't be seen right away, so we stuck it back on with the denture cream, and it stayed in place until he got his permanent crown.

Root canal fillings don't actually have a very high success rate, and yes you could get an infection, you really need to get back to dentist asap it can be refilled straight away or if its going to be too much hassle just have it extracted.

I do not think it is your temp root canal that is falling out, it might be your temp filling or the temp crown. If you have a temp filling you better get a crown in there ASAP, you do not want to fracture the tooth and end up losing it.

Until you can follow the Drs. advice[above] you can get a product called "Dentemp" from most drug stores and even grocery stores.
It's a temporary filling material made just for your situation.

Swish/rinse with salt water to help ensure the cavity is free from debris.
Make another appointment asap.

I'm not taking any finals, but what kind of a grade will you give me?

while your non everlasting has fallen out... it somewhat is incredibly severe.. it somewhat is supose to have stayed in.. for sure you are able to desire to call your dentist and that they'll in all probability have u are available in and re-do the non everlasting till ultimately your apointment you may somewhat circulate in.. while that occurs it somewhat is severe based on the decay of the tooth, that form of stuff.

ASK THE DENTIST TO PUT IN A CROWN COMPOSITE BILDUP PRIOR TO YOU GETTING YOUR CROWN. THIS WON'T JUST UNEXPECTELY FALL OUT. GOOD LUCK.
