When a prescription says take 3 tablets per day for 5 days does that mean all at one time or 1 at each meal??

this is for predisone and I forgot to ask the pharmicist, then you reduce it to 2 tablets per day then 1 tablet per day til gone.

You take all 3 at once for 5 days, then 2 at once for__ days, than one a day until they are gone.

*************The people telling you to take them one at a time are VERY wrong. Call the pharmacist. I promise you he/she will tell you exactly what I have told you.Taking them one at a time will do you no good. Predisone is ment to be taken the way that I have described************************

It should mean 1 tablet 3 times a day. If the prescription is not clear, call your pharmacist. The phone number should be on the label. The lable should also tell you whether to take the Prednisone before, during or after a meal.

Hi,
This means taking the tablet 3 times a day - morning, afternoon and evening. On reducing to two weeks, take it morning and evening. When reduced to once a week take it in the morning. But the important point is to take the tablets after having some food orally. Prednisolone should not be taken empty stomach.

It's one pill, three times a day. Then you drop the number of pills you take down to 2 pills a day (one in the morning, one at night), then drop again to whatever your doctor prescribed.
The reason you have to wean yourself on the pills is because Prednisone is a steroid. Your body can get addicted to it since you're taking it in high dosages. You don't want to quit the pill too quickly or else you could put your body into shock. That's why they slowly wean you off the pills.
