Max is a little over 6 months and a little over 60 pounds, he isn't fat but has a lot of muscle. When he stands next to the dining room table his eyes are over the edge he has a clear view of everything. His father is 110 pounds, mom is 70 if that helps. His paws are the size of the palm of my hand (medium sized cookie) My husband and I noticed that when he lays down and has his head up his shoulders almost look out of place they are extremely wide set but his chest doesn't fit into the space yet. Does this distance between his shoulders when he lays this way give any indication of how wide his chest will be when full grown? We know he will be a monster but if there are any things to indicate just how big of a monster we are curious to know. The bigger the better, hes a big baby no matter what.

When we go to the dog park he is as big as some of the full grown shepherds there. We believe he will be at least as big as his dad.

the parents sizes vary greatly,, you will have to wait and see.. he won't get any taller after about 7-8 months,, after that he will just fill out.... i hope you made sure BOTH parents had ofa clearances..... you dont want hip dysplasia,,, don't over exercise ,, and limit your pups stair climbing,, jumping until he is about two.... read up on hip dysplasia....

Sometimes German Shepherds start small like my Beauty did. She started flourishing @ about 1½. And you'll be surprised guys. GSDs will stop growing @ 3 to 3½ years of age. So don't worry to much about how big your GSD will get. Just be happy with she or he that Will give you the up most loyalty and love you can ever have. Thank you for reading my post guy's. Peace and love!!!

Wow, Sounds like your puppy will be a BIG DOG!!!!
I have had German Shepherds for 20 years and generally find that it takes about 2 to 2.5 yeards for them to fill out in the chest and for his paw size and the size of his head to all get in sync.
He sounds like he will possibly top out between 90 to 100+ pounds.
I hope that if you are planning on breeding him that you will check his pedigree for OFA ( Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). the pedigree will have the dogs name on the top line, then the number of the litter ( I believe) and then next to the number the color of the dog. IF THEY (THE DAM AND THE SIRE) HAVE BEEN OFA'D , THERE WILL BE THE NUMBER, THE OFA WITH A NUMBER (REPRESENTING HOW OLD THE DOG WAS IN MONTHS WHEN THEY WERE CERTIFIED) . For example D218286 1-83 OFA 27 and BLK & TN.
Please do some investigation because it is possible to pass this on to the puppies. If you just want a very sweet and loving dog- HAVE HIM NEUTERED!!!!!!

That just made me laugh, but also sad. We had to put ours down, he was old and his back legs got so bad he couldn't get up any more. I guess that's kind of common with big dogs but when we found him he was dragging himself out of the road on a foggy morning after being hit by a car. So he also had a rod in his back leg. But his name was Crash (because of how we found him) and his nickname was The Monster, because he was HUGE! We told our kids that they never had anything to worry about , no monsters would come to our house because they would be too scared of "The Monster". Congratulations, you will have many years with one of the smartest, best dogs you could ever own....Oh....and the biggest. After he got old and sick and lost weight, we took him to the vet and he DROPPED down to 90 lbs. I think around 110 or 120 was his highest.

Judging by genetics, I'd say he'll probably be in the 95-100 lb range.

The fact that he look disporportionate does give some indication to his size, but it's not an exact science.

He sounds like a whopper! My male was 90 lbs.but average height, while my current female is tall (26 inches),but weighs about 75 lbs.,so she is slender.Your puppy wil probably weigh between 95 and 110 lbs, based on the size of the parents.

My Shepherd weighed 70 pounds at six months. He is now 6 years and is one of the largest shepherd I or anyone who knows him has seen. It sounds like you are growing a big shepherd to me. Have fun and good luck.

I have two. You won't know until he is about two. This is when he will be done filling out. My guess is more close to the dad's weight.
