I saw a homeless guy go thru a garbage can near Arby's, a fast food restaurant. He checked the bags but didn't find anything. So he rubbed the paper against his mouth just to get the scent.
Homeless is no joke. Many homeless are mentally ill and incapable of making decisions that would improve their lives. That's why they need all the help they can get.
As for Bible literature, they get all of that they want for free.
Would he buy the beer? Perhaps so. But the beer is a symptom of his problem, not the cause of it.

Truthfully, I doubt it. But I could be wrong. If this guy was homeless and hungry and thirsty I would bet he would use the money to take care of these purposes first.

Yes, he would go straight to church where they would sell him any Bible Version he wants. $40.00 per chapter.
Gee, I thought it was usually people who treasure crack and alcohol who ended up homeless. I thought people who treasure the Bible enough to actually BUY one I thought were usually considered somewhat responsible.
I am a slow learner. Silly of me.

Offer to personally buy him/her food. See how many take you up on it or try to con you into buying them alcohol or cigs.
I give to shelters, among other charities. I never give on the street anymore - I know where it goes most of the time.
There are also professional beggars who dress down to look pitiful but have better-than-average incomes, going home to homes most of us can't afford. I have no desire to subsidize such scum.

I gave a homeless man a storebought sandwich and a 12 pack of soda once....he cussed me out big time.....

Um. Probably just some crack. or booze. Homeless people love the crack and booze. I used to be one and thats all i did. Smoked crack and drank booze. good times.
