ignore the silverfoxx's answer. Go to www.mormon.org, www.lds.org, if you have heard weird things about the Church and want to see detailed answers go to www.fairlds.org or if you see Mormon missionaries ask them to teach you a little, if you don;t want to join just tell'em and they'll still teach you about the Church and some basic beliefs.

A good place to learn about mormons is from mormons. If your sight is set on astrology, seek out an astrologist. If he would like to learn more about history, seek a historian. It's human nature to consult with friends or family members about issues or subjects that you may not have any knowledge. But if you are truly seeking the truth about what mormons believe, seek out the mormons. This will be a great start.
Great question.

Well, the absolute best place is to visit the sites such as Navoo, Missouri, Palmyra, New York, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

But a source that is the most availabel is to read the church history book for families or the church history documents on Joseph Smith. You can also learn stuff from lds websites. (make sure they are lds websites though).

Just to expand on LDS4LIFE's answer, you want to buy a car, go to the salesman; he will tell you all of the positive things about that car. And after you buy it, you realize it was a lemon.

You want to go learn about a product, go to a commercial, and after you buy the product you realize they really exaggerated it.

No, don't "ignore" ANY answer on this board. There are some who would only want you to look at one side of an issue. We call people like that politicians.

True scholarly research lies in considering both sides and making up your own mind based on real information. There will be a slant both ways, but facts remain facts.

For instance, Joseph Smith, at over 30 years old, married two 14-year-old girls (Fannie Alger and Helen Mar Kimball). This is acknowledged by both the pro-LDS and anti-LDS sides. You can probably conjure up 1001 reasons as to why he did it, but the "fact" is that he did it.

The following are a few sites to consider, some pro-, some anti-, and many neutral 3rd-party.

http://www.lds-mormon.com
http://www.lds.org
http://www.i4m.com
http://www.mormonquotes.com
http://www.utlm.org
http://www.fairlds.org
http://www.exmormon.org (not to be confused with exmormon.com, whoich is probably more "anti" than many sites)
http://www.postmormon.org

And, as always, check the Wikipedia.

In addition, I would recommend buying a CD-ROM copy of the Journal of Discourses, Lectures on Faith, and several old and no-longer-distributed publications of the Church, all available for $15 from the following site:

http://www.journalofdiscourses.org

And finally, a good "pro-mormon" book that talks about Joseph Smith's "human side" is Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling, by Richard L. Bushman. In this book, you will find confirmation of the questionable events of his life that most Mormons either don't know or refuse to believe. Of course, they will be accompanied by the pro-slanted explanations, but you will easily be able to discern between fact and opinion, so that you can decide for yourself.

I am not a Mormon, but you should live in the State of Utah, and congratulations on your 12 wives and 24 kids.
