No. This was verified in several studies.

I see people ask for others to pray for friends, family and strangers who are sick or injured.

How does that work? Is god able to help them but unwilling to do it unless enough people pray?

Does his perfect plan involve not healing them, but he's willing to switch to a suboptimal plan if enough people ask for it?

Also, if prayer works, why not be preemptive, and ask that nobody get sick or injured ever again? Can't god do that? Doesn't the bible say that he'll do whatever people ask?

Yes, I believe it does. But God isn't a magic genie somewhere in the cosmos giving us our every whim. We also have to realize that there are going to be plenty of things we ask Him for that He just won't give us. When I was a little girl, I prayed for weeks that God would let be able to fly. It seems silly because I understand things so much better now...but that's usually how it works. Often when we ask for something specific, it's for personal gain or pleasure or desire. God knows what we actually NEED, and sometimes He has to say no to our wishes. We may never understand why, but sometimes we do later in life.

Having said all that, I think that the main purpose of prayer is to have communion with the One who created us. The closer we draw to Him, the more we know His heart, the more in tune our prayers will be with His desires for us.

YES it does work.

If your destine to die it has nothing to do with your prayer not working. It was that persons time to go. And they are going to a much better place anyway.

We are not here on earth to live forever. This is something we are all going to do.

I truly believe in prayer,Siri but when i young i didn't give much thought to God and prayer.when i was in my mid thirties i was working 12 hours a day as a nurse, and was terribly lonely and depressed,i asked God to please send a good man into my life, and even specified even if he had a disability.low and behold ,two months later i met my husband,he had been in a ba accident and his right leg was really messed up and shorter slightly, but we had almost 20 yrs.together,a beautiful child.we lost him almost 5 yrs.ago,so,yes,i believe in prayer.i don't pray for anything outrageous, just health, keep my loved ones safe,etc.etc.you always have good questions, think i'll star you!

yes. to an extent. i asked for wisdom and understanding....as cheesy as that sounds..i believe God has blessed me with that.

plus if your prayer is in God's plan he will answer it...if he doesn't want to give you what you ask for he won't
