"If the bible said evolution happened, would you stop believing in it?"

I do not base my beliefs from the Bible. However, evolution is not a belief.

Anne, you may be a discriminating bigot, but the whole "Adam and Steve" thing made me laugh.

No, probably not.

Consider that Leviticus bans shellfish right after homosexuality, also calling it "abomination." Yet you don't see fundamentalists picket the local Red Lobster. According to them, the Old Testament laws were supposedly overturned by Christ and the New Testament (several passages contradict this). But then why continue to uphold the hatred of homosexuality?

It's all selective. Christianity was extremely different 100, 200, 500, and 1000 years ago. It's a wonder that such different interpretations can derive from the same text.

It would kinda rub the wrong way against all of the commands to "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth," you think?

This may be a fun discussion from an academic sense, but has no potential for application in real life. Heterosexual encounters are what populate the species, and the only reason God would forbid it would be to slowly kill off the population (you know, since he promised not to use another flood).

But I see where you're getting with it... too many Christians view homosexuality as a "choice" and not an inherent compulsion. I don't know if people are born homosexual or if they're socialized into it, but I do know that it is not a "choice,"--acting out on it is, but enough heterosexuals act out on their compulsions in violation of God's will too.

I have a feeling I'm gonna "thumbs down" a lot of my bretheren on this one!

actually i'll make a reliable argument with you. first of all, I won't say that folk choose for a sexuality as much as situations at an extremely youthful age motives human beings to lean a undeniable way. We lean in the direction of the sexuality we ingredient we can be maximum powerful with. a million) Heterosexual rejection- you comprehend at an extremely youthful age in case you're acceptable by using the choice intercourse or no longer. For heterosexual adult males, this have a tendency to be much less approximately seems and extra approximately having reliable management skills, sturdiness, and an alpha character. those boys who fall way in need of this have a tendency to lean in the direction of a feeling that they do no longer slot in with heterosexuality and homosexuality then turns right into a emotionally passable pathway. the comparable for gay women human beings, who're many times rejected in line with popularity. for this reason maximum lesbians have a tendency to no longer be very acceptable women human beings in the point of view of heterosexual adult males. all of us desire love and gravitate in the direction of the pathway which seems maximum powerful 2) Sexual trauma - Having studies sexual trauma, particularly youthful, would reason very lots of variations of sexual decision. If a boy is traumatized by using yet another male, he ought to invariably sense insufficient as a heterosexual male. This makes a gay course lots extra emotionally and mentally comforting. the comparable with a woman or woman who has been traumatized. Now approximately your unique question, if the bible suggested the heterosexuality is faulty, then this entire verbal substitute would be mute. Adam and Eve would have died as appropriate acquaintances and there would be no human race. the top. So even however you meant the question as a hypothetic, it purely proves that it would be impossible for the bible to make this manner of stance. Christians do no longer purely save on with what the bible says blindly even though it somewhat is supported by using the guidelines of nature and the universe, human habit, and good judgment.

Well, the Bible doesn't say that homosexuality is a sin... but if a group of powerful religious people decided that heterosexuality is a sin, and the idea spread, then yeah....

Although heterosexuality, or the act of heterosexual sex is already a sin... before marriage in Christianity.

Fascinating question! Seriously. I'm usually a deep thinker, but this is very thoughtful.

Hmm. Well, I believe that if Christians are as serious about the Bible as they portray, then they would "have" to. Most Christians find the Bible a rule book, and if they do not follow it, they're screwed.

(Not being hateful against Christians or anything - I grew up with Christianity.)

They probably would try, just as the homosexual people try, but since this is a theoretical question, that's never going to happen.

It's too bad that Christianity has hurt so many people. I happen to be straight, and also a Christian, and if you read the New Testament, you will never hear Jesus speaking out against homosexuals. I guess I consider myself a "follower of Jesus" instead of a "Christian." It's too bad that so many hateful, outspoken people have just about ruined the hopeful, beautiful religion of Christianity. It makes me very sad.

The Bible does not just arbitrarily say one thing is a sin and another is not. There is wisdom and logic involved whether or not you can see and understand it. In the case of heterosexuality, it is logical because the biological parts of a man and woman are seemingly designed to function together. It is wisdom, because it allows the human race to reproduce.

In the case of homosexuality, it is illogical because the biological parts of a man and man are not seemingly designed to function together. It is not wise, because the human race would not be able to reproduce.

Let me answer your question this way, It does not matter what people think, about this matter, what does matter is what God thinks about it, and he does tell us what he thinks, about all such things in his Word the Bible(Romans 1:26&27) for one.
The Bible exhorts Christians to flee from fornication, and also from all forms of unclean conduct that could lead to it. (Colossians 3:5) as well, So, yes, Christians should change their lifestyle if they are engaging in any of this type of conduct, if they want to be obedient to what God tells us in the Bible.

This is a stupid question.

Aphrodite, the dietary laws of the Old Testament were rescinded along with circumcision in the New Testament. Homosexuality, and the Decalogue (Ten Commandments) was not. If we followed your logic, we could kill, blaspheme, steal, lie, and hate everyone. Please look at everything in context.

That would confuse everyone. Adam and Eve would be Adam and Steve. Imagine that... plus there wouldn't be any offspring, unless they adopt. Anyway heterosexual lifestyle isn't a sin. It's the only right way to live.
