You mean, what does potassium do in the body? It's also in bananas. It's a silvery metal and a conductor of electricity, which makes it an electrolyte. Like salt, when it's in water as well as calcium. They make it easier for electrical signals to pass through the nerves and into muscles. It does a few other things too I think but that's one of the major reasons they put it into gatorade or whatever it's in.

When you drink clear water, you're only replacing half of what you're losing in sweat. As you lose electrolytes, the water in your system becomes less and less capable of letting the electricity through and this can kill you. Drinking too much water without salt or other electrolytes CAN be fatal if you drink enough. I can't remember the term but it's most common with people using exstacy or speed.

sweat consists of potassium, sodium and etc...
by taking in potassium which is positively charges it will balance the electrolytes in your body for proper functioning of body.
